Gas Prices

Stolen from the San Jose Mercury News:

*************************
It's now more expensive than ever to fill up your gas tank in the Bay Area.
For the second time this week, gas prices across the state, including San Francisco and the South Bay, have reached record-highs, according to the state auto club. The spike in gas prices comes as the cost of crude oil hit $104.95 a barrel late Wednesday, breaking the previous high set Monday by exactly one dollar.

Today in California, a gallon of self-serve unleaded is averaging $3.523, more than the single-day mark of $3.490 set in May, according to the state auto club. Gas prices in the South Bay and San Francisco are also at record highs today; a gallon of self-serve unleaded is averaging $3.543 in San Jose, and $3.662 in San Francisco, according to AAA.

Earlier this week, when crude oil hit its previous high mark of $103.95, the cost of gas set new marks in 13 of the 24 cities surveyed by AAA. Today, 23 of the 24 areas set new records, the exception being Orange County, where gas today is averaging $3.447. Last May, gas there reached $3.479 per gallon.

This gas pricing is bullshit! Can't wait to start riding my bicycle to work and save the $$$$ for other things instead of gas.

I am starting to see a lot more cyclist out on the roads as these gas prices are rising. Now we need to have a bit better communities for cyclist to commute to work or the local store.

Hmm, gas is $2.93 a gallon here. Guess it's one good thing about the midwest

I ride my 'bike' to work when it isn't snowing

I just heard this on the news the other day too. Gas prices nowadays are insane. It's already hitting about $3.80 for a gallon of premium and will probably be $4+ by summer. Come on BMW, bring that diesel over here!!!

Costs appx. $100 to fill up my mum and dad's S500...pretty ridiculous.

Even in the east coast the price is steep, it used to be that California was like $1.00+ higher not that long ago, now it's only like a $0.25 difference in the DC Metro area. I guess it's time to get that Smart...

I wonder how many people who complain about gas prices are also smokers and pay silly money for cigarettes.

I'm in the midwest, too, but I noticed that 87 octane has been consistently around $3.15 by me.

Hard to believe, but I'm only 29 and I can still remember when gas was well under $1!!!
