Wife's car - What to choose for <$50k
So I am forced to choose a car for my wife as we are moving away from the city and down to Texas (Dallas area) where there is very little public transport. Initially, I was looking at leasing the new MB C300 but I then started to contemplate the used car market and what I could get for the same or less money.
What's your guys' opinion? Some criteria are: - Has to be a 4 door car - Has to be automatic - Has to have nav, rear view, park sensors - New or used - Has to be available / on the market now Edit: no kids currently but likely in the near future Last edited by Fahrvergnügen; 03-27-2016 at 11:25 AM.. |

SUV: One year old X53.5i, CPO.
One year old Porsche Macan. X3 if the X5 it too big. Car: 428 or 435 GC. I was a little premature when I purchased my 328d but I love the lines of the 4GC combined with the utility of a 4 four door car. I am assuming that you want to stay German. I hope this helps. |

I like the new C. With kids possibly in the future leasing is probably your best bet if she wants one last car before getting the required SUV

GTI If you haul a lot things or want a lot of kids, nothing's more practical than an S212 E-class Wagon. Too bad everyone thinks practical car for families with kids = SUV. NOT TRUE.

The new X1 is pretty damned nice. Trying to get my wife into one now. The interior is similar to the F30/F8x, and feels more premium than the price indicates.

But the wife has a 16 328i, after her X1 35i and 135i. Absolutely no reason to have awd down here. One year old kid and a dog, 3er is actually bigger than what we'd like. |

Ford Explorer Sport, Dodge Durango R/T, Honda Pilot.. then of course the typical German offerings... plus Range Rover
Charger w/ Hemi, CTS-V Sport, then of course the typical German offerings.. Question is what kind of car does she like to drive? SUVs or Sedans... Also with the kid factor might want to get an SUV... Any of the SUVs mentioned above new loaded come in under 50k new... |

Get your wife a Volkswagen, that will reflect on you two as more intelligent and her as better off than one of the dime-a-dozen housewives driving a base model C class.
Or, get a Porsche Macan if you can afford it, they're totally sweet automobiles that kick major ass. |
