Hunting for a Daily Driver SUV

My current SUV needs to be replaced. I'm looking for a SUV that can take abuse and keep on trucking. My current SUV has 220k of city miles and still works great but my wife hates it, lol.

Sound off and provide your suggestions for a bullet proof SUV. Thanks for your help!

Anything with a Toyota badge...a basic 4-runner possibly being the most reliable.

That's on the short list, lol. Trying to find a TRD Pro Edition but no luck, lol.

If you're looking for a SUV.. I say old school LandCruiser or any generation of 4Runner.

If crossover, well, choose the one you find the cutest.

May add this to the list. Not a fan of the styling but I'll give it a test drive.

Forget SUV get a Wagon. That way when you go shopping, you can drive it like a battlewagon, with a minigun in the rear and bulletproof glass.

I'd prefer a wagon but the only wagon I love is the AMG E class wagon. Sadly I'm not at that level yet and not sure it'd hold up to my abuse, lol.

I'm tempted to get a new one but having had a garage of Xenon equipped cars the last years I don't think I can do halogens now. It feel like driving wth no headlights Hopefully Toyota give us that option for 2017. I also should get something with a useful 3rd row so now I'm waiting for the 2017 Nissan Armada, it's pretty much exactly the "new" Nissan Patrol sold in other parts of the world for a couple of years. An off-road worthy rig which competes with the Land Cruiser but to a lower price point.

I have a 4Runner as my winter car and commuter. Love it. Thing will run forever (knock on wood). Big enough for whatever you need, great in bad weather, good gas mileage for an SUV (get 20mpg combined), low maintenance, takes regular unleaded. Also love the window in the back that goes down. Mods are cheap as well.

Do you have the 3rd row? Is it useable for kids or just a gimmick pita option?

I feel you on the lack of HIDs. My SUV lacks HIDs and I can't stand them, lol.

I grabbed a new 2016 supercharged Audi Q5 with 20". Functional and a good balance of style and comfort and the Quattro making it a very easy driver and quite safe for family.

No 3rd row. Almost got one with it but changed my mind. It's pretty small. You could probably stick a couple 8 year olds back there at most. It would be torture for a teenager or above. The 4Runner is a blast off-roading. I have only done it a few times but it can take a beating.

I have a 2015 Jeep Cherokee as my other/snow car and really like it. Not crazy expensive and drives great.

Any body-on-frame Toyota will be absolutely bulletproof- FJ Cruiser, 4Runner, Land Cruiser, Sequoia.

Garage List
Just got a fully loaded 2015 (5th gen) Outback and I am very pleased with the vehicle. Great resale value, top safety pick, 73 cubic ft of space in the back, 3000 lb towing capacity, 8.7 inch ground clearance with Subaru AWD and a boxter 6. Once I upgrade the tires and rear sway bar it will ride better then my BMW did over Michigan's shitty roads.
