Have you ever gotten a red-light CAMERA ticket?
In the past few years, cities all over the country have installed red light cameras at intersections. They want you to believe that it is for safety. My opinion has always been that they are nothing but PROFIT machines for the city. Instead of placing Pepsi machines all around the city that sells a 16 oz. soda for $1.25, they are doing something alot more profitable and devious. Run a redlight and get a picture of yourself mailed to you with a bill for $300+
I now have my proof of what I suspected all along! This is BULLSH*T!!! ![]() P.S. Who is going to be the first E92 M3 to get his picture taken? Say "Cheese." STORY~~~~~> http://www.motorists.org/blog/red-li...es-for-profit/

Who cares? just don't pay them. They slide off your record after x amount of days (like 30 or 60) if you don't respond. Occasionally they will send someone out to serve you but you just don't answer the door.

I've got 3 at $95.00 each. Not for running a red light though. Cleveland also has speed only cameras that are no where near any intersections. The 3 tickets I got were also from mobile cameras which can obviously be moved and placed anywhere and are a lot easier to hide. The fixed cameras have to have a sign posted 100 yards before the camera zone to notify drivers of their presence, they also can't move haha.
I also believe their bullshit.

eh I don't think its that easy. They throw those on your record and hit you when you try to renew your license plates and if you don't pay you can't renew.

If you have Idrive, you can upload speed and red light cam locations to your nav dvd. It really helps for the speed cams.

Don't have Idrive, wouldn't have helped me either way since all 3 of tickets were not received while driving my BMW

My first rear ender happened at an intersection with a red light camera. I didn't want to run the yellow so I stopped but the car behind me didn't. I heard screeching noises behind me, and I said, "oh no" and BOOM!.
My second rear ended happened at the same intersection, but I wasn't even in front of the intersection. I was probably about 7 cars behind the actual intersection at a red light, and I stopped for about 15 seconds, and then, boom, I got rear ended. After those two rear enders at that intersection, I told myself to never travel on that road anymore. My best advice is run the yellow light if another car is really close behind you, it'll save your car and yourself. The fact is intersections with red light cameras have the highest amount of accidents. |

Go to the idrive/nav forum.
Do a search on "adding POIs" There is a thread there on how to make a copy of your nav dvd and add POIs ( speed cams in this case). The thread also lists websites dedicated to compile lists of red light or speed cams. I just followed those directions and added them to my nav dvd.

Here is a whole discussion on how to fight one of these tickets
http://www.radardetector.net/viewtopic.php?t=34481 Oh not paying can cause you serious issue depending on the state. Some states will cause an automatic suspension of the license if you do not pay. |

They can't suspend you if they don't have proof that you've received the ticket. Postal service witout tracking/signature isn't exactly 100%....
I'm not speaking for more than Arizona (Maricopa County) specifically. Do some research - a lot of people just straight up don't pay. There's a website where you can go look at your ticket and then you can see it fall off. I don't recall the URL however. ________ vaporizers ________ Honda PC800 ________ buy vaporizers ________ Ford model a (1927) history Last edited by stimpy; 02-18-2011 at 05:28 AM.. |

I got one for $100. I didn't run a red light...instead didn't make a complete stop while turning right on a red light (right on red is legal unless posted)

I don't see speeding being quite as serious an issue as running a red light. I've nearly been involved in a couple serious accidents when someone ran a red light. My feeling is you run the red light, you should get a ticket. You're actively endangering the lives of others. Sure, speeding can be dangerous, but 75 or 80 in a 65? Not nearly as deadly as running a red light.

The cameras that got me were mobile ones so they just throw them up where ever and they are usually somewhat hidden, sure a detector would have caught them but that's only 3 tickets from them over 2 years they've been in use. It's the price you pay for putting down +30k miles of driving a year. I prefer them with no points then from an actual officer with points.
