WHAT TO DO!?

This is my second thread on the bimmer post not sure though if this is the right spot to post so sorry in advance. Okay so here is my situation the F80 is my dream car have been wanting this car since the 2015 version came out. So I'm 20 years old and FOR the past few months I have been making over 5k+ a month working online(still work part time offline). I DONT own a car now I use my parents. I live with them as well. So my question is should I lease a Lexus for 2 years then just get out of it once a year hits to get a M3? The reason I say this is because trying to convince them to co sign a 80k plus car is gonna be hard unless I show them my bank account. I'm sure if I lease a Lexus I can convince them to do that because it's cheaper then by the time I want a M3 I won't need one......

Not that this matters but what made me come up with this idea is the fact that my friend is like the same age or 19 owns a 14 M5 lives with his parents and works at a supermarket idk how he got that to happen but it happen. The paying 1k plus for the car a month won't be a problem it's the co signer part. Thanks in advance and again sorry if this isn't the right place to post.

You asked "what to do" so here's my piece of advice.

I think you should wait and move out first. Figure out if you can afford "living" with all the bills and everything. If I were you right now, I would max out my retirement funds and invest in stocks.

Let's assume you use whatever car to pick up a date. Your choices are:

1. Pick them up in a sweet Bimmer, impress them, and then...take them home to your parents house for some heavy petting.

2. Pick them up in a Toyota, charm them, and then take them back to your sweet apartment where you can make as much noise (etc.) as you like.

Your call.

If either of my children suggested this, they would be out of my house and on their own in a heartbeat. Imo you need to reevaluate your priorities as others have said. Your insurance is likely to be another $1k/mo on top of your car payment at your age.

So judging by what everyone is saying to move out. Say I move out and pay on time payments for over a year will they require I get a co signer?

Hi Kevin, this is 40 year old Kevin and I know you won't like my advice because, hey, I'm you! Anyway, here's what you should do: grow the fuck up.

Let me expand on that a bit ... first you need to move out, live on your own, and get a little life experience under your belt. Get a reasonable apartment, a reasonable car, and start saving like muthafucker.

Because here's the the deal Kevin: income isn't why you can "afford" things, savings is. Another name for savings is wealth, and another name for income is dependence.

And since I'm you, I know something else too: all your little hopes and dreams that seem sooo important right now? Yeah, they're all little pussy bullshit and, believe me, in 10 years they'll be totally different.

And that's the trick Kevin - you can make all your dreams 10 years from now come true by making the right decisions right here, right now. And the right decision is to live at 50% of your means and save the rest. If you do that, in 10 years you and all your friends and family will agree you're a total fucking genius. That's what you should do Kevin.

But the moron force is strong in you, so you probably won't.

I know, I'm you.

Everyone here is gonna give you some harsh words.

So I will be as straight as I can.

The fact that you are doing hard math equations before buying something is never a good sign no matter if you are living at home- on your own -buying a used car- or an m3; and the fact that it's largely cause your friends have stuff makes it even worse.

I don't care if you live w your parents just don't base huge success on what your friends have or money.

If you follow those rules you'll magically end up with a nice car someday

lol.

The M3 is to expensive for you, and buying/leasing it (including a lexus) will be dumb choice - seriously idiotic. Work towards doing the right thing so you can actually afford the car of your dreams instead of leveraging everything you have to lease one.

Seriously its time to be a man and move out on your own. Nothing says douche more then someone leasing a BMW and living at home with his parents. You're an adult now so there are no excuses.

So many things I could say here. You're 20. You should have a few dozen other priorities other than putting the money towards the car. Move out. Start saving. Investing. Focus on your career and the future. I know I'm preaching and most people don't want to hear it but you NEED to hear it. As a general rule, if you don't have enough in your bank account to cover the FULL cost outright, don't even think about doing it. I'm not saying financing is bad, but there's a difference between being "approved' for financing and being able to truly "afford" the car. I live off of 50% of my income and save/invest the rest and even I kick myself that I blow that much of my money on stupid ass shit. Walk away, you'll thank us later.

Quit comparing yourself to others. Ain't gonna get you in life thinking about what others have that you don't. Focus on yourself and what you need to do. I agree with the others. Move out and experience responsibilities on your own. 5 k ain't much when your car is close to 1k per month and then you have rent/mortgage and living costs. And seriously? Your tripping about your parents seeing your bank account? If I was mom and pops and you were so secretive about your stash, I wouldn't co sign either. Then again, if you need a co signer you ain't ready to buy the car.
