Gatlinburg
This updated GIS map shows the extensive (almost unbelievable) damage suffered by the Gatlinburg area in the recent wildfires. Once the map loads fully (takes a bit), click the bookmarks on the left to see various areas. Gatlinburg was practically wiped out.

My nephew and his wife used to rent a nice place up the hills of Pigeon Forge. It's gone. And my sister works for a time share company whose entire resort went up. So much loss.

The co-op kid I have working under me went to Ashville a couple weekends ago, said even hiking some of the trails that way there was tons of smoke.
Pretty terrible to see the aftermath and how much destruction was done. |
