Grand Turismo 5 next week (4/16), are you getting it?

since there are like 2.5 games for PS3 right now, i can't wait for this one to come out.

does anyone know why it costs just $39.99? is it not a full game or something? i don't get it.

I think that it is just the prologue and not the whole game, it has like 60 or 80 cars.

The $39.99 is for pre-orders only, once the game is on stores the prices will change, I assume between $49.99-59.99.
I pre-order mine 2 weeks a go, I can't wait.

what, prologue has 60-80 cars or the full game? howcome i can't find anything about just GT5, it's always linked to prologue.

on GT website, they have something called Grand Turismo HD Concept. i wonder if that's the full game. if so, however, it doesn't seem like it's coming out anything soon.

alright, so it is some kind of prequel. i think that's the reason why it's just $39.99. i don't believe that price is going to change. i don't see any other games being pre-sold for $20 less than the "regular" price.

here is an excerpt from a press release:
Quote:
10 years from its debut in 1997, "Gran Turismo" will paint the history of car life simulation another color.
The award-winning Gran Turismo™ franchise returns with its 5th installment, Gran Turismo™ 5 Prologue, exclusively for PLAYSTATION®3. With its signature realism and unrivaled physics, this highly anticipated precursor to Gran Turismo™ 5, continues to blur the line between simulation and reality.

Its basically a preview to the full game. The reason why they release this is because the full games not gona come out until 2009 so they want to give the fans something to play with until they release the full game.

it's g25 prologue, kind of like a demo. I heard it only has 5 tracks but various cars and they are transferable. And yes it does cost around 40 bucks...for a freaking demo!

Probably worth it for us die-hard car fanatics. =D

there are 6 tracks.

i totally agree. up until today i had no idea it was just a demo because everyone is making such a huge deal out of it. i can't believe they're selling it as a game.

those $40 should at least count toward the purchase of the full game when it comes out.

It may not be the full monty, but apparently it is still the "definitive automotive experience in gaming".

From IGN UK:

"Deeply flawed as the structure of the game may be, there’s no doubting it still offers the definitive automotive experience in gaming. As a taster for the full course it suggests that, when it arrives, Gran Turismo 5 could well be one of the greatest driving titles ever. But as a standalone title it’s impossible to not question Polyphony Digital’s decision to drip feed its new game and present what at times can be a ragged package. That said, there’s enough content here to keep the petroleum levels in the bloodstream of the most ardent automobile fans peaked, and as such it still manages to nose clear of the rest of the chasing pack."

http://ps3.ign.com/articles/862/862436p3.html

It's a matter of choice, really. You don't HAVE to buy it, you can just wait for the full GT5. Personally, I think it's reasonable to pay $39.99 if it indeed is the "definitive automotive experience in gaming", even if it's clearly not the final product.

Europeans seem to agree, by the way. It's still the number one selling game in Europe.

Hehe I need to buy a PS3 today so I can play GT5. Have GTA reserved but for 360 given the 360's superior online play.

The graphic are truly beautiful on GT5 but I am still a Forza2 fan. When GT gets damage simulation down like Forza2 I'll invest. There is nothing worse than an opponent punting you to gain and advantage or using walls to slow down with no consequence.

I picked it up today. Played it for awhile...awesome graphics and sound its what you would expect from the GT franchise athough I don't think the cars are tuneable. Since I can't seem to find the tune section. Worth 40. Bucs? Why not help stimulate the economy and pick up a copy...lol!

Highly recommend it. No point in waiting almost a year for the full game. Prologue is just a taste of what the actual full game will be like. Plus, there will be future online upgrades done on Prologue with will include damage i heard. Go get it now!!
