With McLaren already showing their new supercar to potential and future owners during special events in the USA, it was only a matter of time before it was our turn to see it prior to its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show.

The photo was posted by woppum on Instagram, showing an orange example of the allegedly-named 720S during a preview event.

Codenamed P14, the new McLaren is expected to offer 720PS (710hp) from its revised twin-turbo V8 while using the latest iteration of the company’s carbon monocoque, making it 18kg (40lbs) lighter than a 650S with comparable specification, tipping the scales at 1,283kg (2,828lbs) dry.

The new McLaren 720S is reportedly going to have one of the most impressive aero agendas in the market and a special “track” mode, just like the P1 did. The same reports go as far as claiming that the new model will be actually faster than the P1 around a track.

The whole design is certainly a departure from the 650S, with the body featuring much cleaner lines and a very different roofline, courtesy of the new Monocage II.

With the first leaked image already online, don’t be surprised if McLaren decides to reveal its new supercar earlier so stay tuned.

eek. The proportions look really out of whack.

It looks nice from the front to the end of the door but the back looks like they've photoshopped a chunk of the car away. Literally, if I cover the back of the car with my hand, it looks fine. Where the hell is the engine!? It doesn't even look like there's enough room back there.

That doesn't do anything for me. The headlights look awkward, the roof line in the back doesn't work, the rest looks bland.

It's not as bad as some of you guys think. It looks promising to me but it's not as aggressive as the P1 or 675 LT.

Stealth Black is the way to go for this car IMO.

It's gorgeous. Can't wait to see this chew and spit out Ferraris and Lamborghinis. I think it looks even better than the P1! Not sure what the haters are on about but this is a home run as far as I'm concerned. Well done McLaren

I was at the private viewing in NYC a couple weeks back. The car is stunning. The stats are unreal. The italians will have some catching up to do. The car is aggressive as hell and the aero is mindblowing, especially for a road car. The doors are just bananas. The tech inside the car is the future. You cant really make an informed judgement on this car until you see it. Id guess even the official release pics or the pics we will all see from Geneva still wont do it justice. It has a presence like none other. Looks like a P1 and a 570s had a child and this was the result.

While it's a "cool" feature, I don't see the point of that at all. I thought the current cars in Race mode already show that kind of graphics

It looks to be a nifty thing to see if fold like that, but if the screen is already digital, just make it another screen you can toggle to! Now there's another motorized electronic device to fail down the line.
