Assetto Corsa for PS4

Is it just me or does AC get real old, real fast?

I picked it up to hold me over for GTS (Gran Turismo Sport), and honestly, graphics and physics are pretty insane. Having said that, the game becomes monotone fast.

From what I understand, the PC version is a lot more advanced although I'm not sure by how much...I know at one point they had drag racing, not sure if still the case. PS4 version does not...yet...

There were a couple of updates and some DLC (cars and tracks) but a couple of months in and it's just not doing it for me anymore...it doesn't even have PvP (2 player mode). Car and track selections are ok at best. Steering wheel is almost a must. Controller commands are on or off, pretty much, no sensitivity whatsoever.

Going through "career mode" gets old quick because there is no real sense of any sort of accomplishment. I quit after the McLaren challenges.

I find myself enjoying the drift mode the most...but 30 minutes in I'm back to Fifa17...

IMO, a letdown aside from graphics and physics.

Hoping GTS will deliver like GT5 did but not holding my breath...

Project Cars is along the same lines but I don't get bored. You need to practice to get your times down, there are real gains to be made from the correct braking and acceleration points, it takes a long time to set the car up correctly and to get consistent laps in for a fair race.

Do you use a wheel? I found Project Cars unplayable with a controller.

Controller, and yes it took a full fucking week to tweak the seemingly MILLIONS of controller settings before I could get on with it. What a massive PITA that was.

Funny.. I found a site talking about how to set it up and at that point I was like "F It"..

I think I'm about to build a full on iRacing rig.

Playing a sim racing game with a controller is like trying to jack off with a back scratcher.

Assetto Corsa was never meant to be a traditional racing game. It's a PC simulator and most of the serious PC sims are like this. I have probably over 600 hours into AC and it's mainly just hot lapping by myself improving my driving. I love it. It's never boring. I think what you are expecting is a racing game, but AC is a driving/racing sim.

The big issue is the gas pedal, I cannot apply consistent partial throttle, very tough to drive cars from the 80's with lots of power and not a lot of TC it gets very hard.

I think you're right. I was hoping that it would blend the two more like GT but that wasn't the case. I will say that I like it a lot more than I liked PCars.

Tried AC on PS4, nightmare with a controller. The game looks so half arsed too but the actual driving physics are marginally better. Will stick to PCars.

I might just have to spring for a steering wheel.

Played PCars on a Thrustmaster TS-PC. World of a difference once calibrated for the game. I even improved with my XB One controller after using the wheel because u understand how the game should "feel" a lot morel.

The TS-PC is a friend's who purchased a seat with it. Now I want one.

Using the same car on the same track easily burned through a few hours just trying to shave seconds off each lap.
