What warm climate state best to live ??

Me and my wife are planning to move out from New Jersey to some state where is warm all year long in near future. Which state is the best to live in, in term of economy, prices of houses, properties, living lifestyle, etc. Btw sorry, but I'm not sure is the best forum to open that kind of topic. Any opinion would be appreciate. Thanks

This is not the correct section. Go to "off topic discussion". You'll get way more people involved since its the entire forum and not just E90.

But I heard the carolinas are nice. My parents are looking into it as an alternative to jersey mainly because of property tax being dirt in comparison. It's nice all year around and other than storms occasionally, I can't see down sides. I've been there a few times and the people are more than friendly. Must be the nice weather

In a short time I plan to be an airline pilot and once that happens, I plan on choosing a base down south. New Jersey is nice. Having lived in both north and south, I can say it isn't as bad as the rest of the country makes it out to be.

Florida has no state income tax, and I recently bought a home on the southwest coast for $90K fully furnished. Small, but nice. The tax savings vs, my previous residence in Maine pays for the mortgage on this house - I'll still spend a few months a summer in Maine when it is too hot down here.

Downsides are the occasional hurricane, slightly more than average numbers of crazy people, and you better have a high tolerance level for the elderly. They don't call this area "God's Waiting Room for nothing!

Houston, TX if you want:
-year round humidity
-mild winters
-20+ days of 100 degree weather
-pollution
-racial melting pot
-possible hurricane here and there
-San Antonio would be more cholo compared to Houston, which is more ghetto
-crappy roads
-terrible traffic all day

Having no taxes is a double sword - government with no money to have road repairs and so on. You can tell what states are broke just driving by. Balance is the key, weather included. However, you can't have only good things, so it's a compromise one way or the other.
I personally avoid big cities (too much stress) and would gladly live in a colder state if other life aspects are good. Also, lived in a year round warm weather and it gets boring quickly. Nothing can beat a 4 seasons climate zone

Middle Georgia is pretty nice. If it weren't for all the Georgian's it'd be great! Seriously though, real estate is reasonable away from Atlanta.

One of the 13 or so states with no income tax.

Eastern OR and WA are pretty nice although they do have winters (but OR has income tax.

Reno, NV would be my choice if I ever moved from WA.

Lived in CA, AZ, NM and currently FL there is no comparison for cost of living than FL. Comment about no state taxes doesn't apply. FL is a tourist state and gets plenty of income from that.
Things I like:
I don't live close to any big city nor do I want to
Panhandle of FL has a touch of winter which I like
Less traffic usually just spring break and summer
Close to the beach 5 mins away

Don't like
Lack of goods and services goes with lack of a large population
Bug for every season, high humidity and temps summer
Insurance because of hurricanes you pay all peril, hurricane and flood insurance
Featureless driving meaning this state is flat and the BMW doesn't enjoy boring roads.

In the end the only true way to see what you like is to spend a month in each state you are interested. You can tell what you like in that time period. Like I said I have lived in a great number of southern states and spent time in a number of others so that would be my suggestion. Go try them out...

San Diego weather is nice all year round. However, I hear the state has a big problem with homelessness. Also, California traffic is horrendous from my experience.

Dallas environs - two track complexes close by with another under construction. OTOH, it's Dallas.

I have it on good authority that California knows how to party, so that's something to consider.

I live at the beach in southeastern NC. Great weather, and real estate is reasonable here.

Unfortunately, our politicians are kinda jackasses about where people go to the bathroom., so...
