First Top Gear, now Wheeler Dealers.
Another show I won't be watching anymore with Velocity's decision to show less of the actual fixing/rebuilding of the car and more of the BS that all the other car shows insist on having. Do we really need another car show with guys with long beards covered in tats creating all kinds of fake drama rebuilding an umpteenth Camaro while something like Megadeath/Slayer music is playing in the background??? Wheeler Dealers was unique because it wasn't any of that and concentrated on Edd fixing/rebuilding a car while explaining the process. No heavy metal music, no fake drama, and they worked on some unique cars not normally seen. Hats off to Edd and his decision to tell Velocity to go F themselves. Now get off my damn lawn!!!

Discovery's pablum press release is typical PR bullshit. They should have added a happy face at the end. And dotted the i's with little stars.
I watched WD for Edd. Wideboy Mike Brewer was a real distraction. And when he decided to get his hands dirty in recent years, even the technical part of the show went to hell. Wheeler Dealers? Good riddance.

What disappointing news. Liked Edd in this role...a lot.

Unfortunately, first Top Gear and then Wheeler Dealers these two were my favorite programs on the tv .Former may not be liked by everyone but latter was a coveted program by many .
I liked the way he handled the cars and explained phase by phase what he'd done with the cars in details . I doubt chubby sweet hog Mike would survive without Edd's being at the helm . I had sensed some quality pouring down on the some episodes since they moved their workshop to the US ,they had even bought a pre historic car which I couldn't stand to watch and a funky colored car which they lost some money from He's a great character and wish him the best and lucrative business deals or jobs

Thanks Velocity Channel for ruining a really great show, now we need a show that features a shop that repairs cars, is a tattoo parlor, and sells gun. Murica!!!

The sad part is when Brewer began doing that weird segment of sneaking into the shop while Edd was away to do some wrenching. It comes across as painful and forced. One thing I hope is that they do away with that rubbish, as Ant takes over as the technical lead. I'll give it a "few-episode" chance, just as I had with the new staff at Top Gear, and I hope it works out, but as with Top Gear, I fear the same fate of terrible segments and awkward moments.

Velocity can tap into some of the bullshit pawn store shows. That's what Wheeler Dealers will be without Edd. Who wants to watch the Cockney wideboy spouting bullshit and fake-negotiating?

I guess this is the path, all the good shows go. Most of the (used-to-be-good) car shows reduce the amount of technical stuff and increase the amount of reality-crap.

Sorry, couldn't stand WD. The entire premise of flipping cars was pretty ridiculous.
"We bought this 1972 VW Beetle for $4200. Edd spent 14 hours dropping the engine to replace a $4 knuter valve and only $2 to spray paint the wheels shiny new. We sold the car for $4400 and made $194 PROFIT!!" Uhhhh... and what about Edd's 14 hours of labor?? The cherry on top was the painful to watch typical used car salesman tactic negotiations from Mike. Pass. |
