Chicago for memorial day weekend - what to do?
Going to be in Chiraq with 2 buddies and my girlfriend. I have already been to the bean (probably will go again), millenium tower, navy pier. Does anybody have suggestions for other places to go within a 10 mile radius of the downtown core?
Also looking for good steakhouse/any recommendations.

Au Cheval won best burger in America from Bon Appetit a few years ago, it's a must hit. The office if you can get in is great as well, or Sable in the Palomar hotel has great cocktails. Wrigley if cubs are in town. Chicago Q or Honky Tonk for BBQ, Q is excellent but white table cloth HT is hipsters live music dive but award winning.
RPM per your steakhouse request.

But yeah avoid the western and southern parts of town, you really have no reason to be out there anyway. |

River North is good for night life. Gibson's for a phenomenal steak (its also located in the infamous Viagra Triangle - affectionately named that as 20 year old peacocks search for their 50 year old+ sugar daddy). If you have a rental car, drive Lower Wacker Dr. at night. It's hands down one of my favorite experiences in the city, especially late on a weekend night, since you literally drive underneath the entire city from one side to the other.
Then there is the usual fan favorites... Lou Malnati's/Pizzeria Uno for classic deep dish pizza. Second City Theater, Blue Man Group (Briar St Theater), Shedd Aquarium, Sears Tower/Willis Tower Sky Deck, Lincoln Park Zoo for entertainment. Last edited by sirdaft1; 05-25-2017 at 10:33 AM.. |

Steak . . . . .
Smith & Wolinski (start saving $$ now ! none better) Bar B Que . . . . Webbers (but ya gotta try a Chi-Town deep dish pizza) Reservations are needed for both.....especially on that weekend ! I've been to both, and returned to both.

Gene & Georgetti for steakhouse. I went there years ago and presume it is still among the best. There are many great steakhouses in Chicago.
Agree with others... stay safe in Chicago.

Don't come to Chicago. Weather getting warmer, more ppl out, more traffic.. If I told u it took me 2.5hrs to drive 15 miles you wouldn't beleive me. Fuck Chicago and everything special it has. Rather not enjoy something, then suffer that horrible car ride

The one time I was there, I went to a Cubs game. I think it was $35 to sit one section up from home plate. That was the most enjoyable game I think I have ever attended. We sat next to some season holders who were a few years younger, and a few beers deeper than us. While watching the game, they were entertaining us and themselves, and even invited us to play their next hitter guessing betting game. The funniest game was someone would pick a name, and until someone actually answered they called that name to every person who walked by. "Steve" might be wearing a dress, but that was her name And the buffalo dogs, O M G !!!! Don't care if it was sewer-buffalo, that was the best dog I've ever had. |

Honestly it's not that bad actually. Like others have said, try to catch a Cubs game, even being in the Wrigley area during a game or before a game is fun. A lot of single girls walking around. Also can check out the famous Chicago pizza and oven grinder company. The lines are insane and some people wait about 2hrs for a pizza. Featured on TV it's a must eat place.
Also can do the sight seeing down the Chicago river. Gives u a nice tour of the city. Navy peer just upgraded their ferris wheel so should check that out (1yr old wheel) |
