Richard Hammond in Major Crash in Switzerland

Update: video

Richard Hammond was involved in a serious crash after completing the Hemburg Hill Climb in Switzerland in a Rimac Concept One, an electric super car built in Croatia, during filming for “The Grand Tour” Season 2 on Amazon Prime, but very fortunately suffered no serious injury.

Richard was conscious and talking, and climbed out of the car himself before the vehicle burst into flames. He was flown by Air Ambulance to hospital in St. Gallen to be checked over revealing a fracture to his knee. Nobody else was in the car or involved in the accident, and we’d like to thank the paramedics on site for their swift response. The cause of the crash is unknown and is being investigated.

He is going to retire soon. I'm sure these serious accidents he's had while filming for Top Gear as well as GT have him and his family worried and shaken up.

Naah.........the money is too big, good. As soon someone waves $12-20 million per year at him..........what serious accidents?

Big money, yes. But is it worth his life? Even I'm a little worried with his string of serious accidents.

Actually Hammond got 2 lives , because this is his second major crash .
Note: The Rimac is extremely fast , it kicked Veyron's a$$ .

They only made 8 of those. 4 went to us, 2 UK, 2 UAE. Wonder which bit the dust. Glad he's relatively unscathed.

He was going super fast for that corner.

Anyhow, this is great marketing for Rimac. I hadn't heard of them until this.

That's what I though as well. The "accident is being investigated". It's pretty clear he was coming way too hot on this one, and he braked it into understeer when he realized. Operator error, clearly.

Good for him he got only minor hurts this time around.

Not sure about the advertisement, the car set itself on fire. It has excuses, but still, these electric cars seem prone to burn when crashed.

Was than an 1/8th mile run ? Let's see about standing mile.

Ps. Hammond was going way to fast into the corner. He's getting old and should retire.
