New 10.5 inch iPad vs. 9.7 inch iPad and Microsoft Office

What do you all think about the new iPad? Apparently in the (slightly) larger screen iPad you need an office 365 subscription to use office while it's free on the smaller screen iPad because Microsoft requires a subscription on a tablet with a larger than 10 inch screen. Do you think it was a mistake for Apple to release this product with a larger screen?

My understanding is you need a subscription regardless of size if you want to edit files.

Otherwise free version is limited.

Typically O365 home user is for five devices. Anything you use must be logged in and counts against a license regardless of screen size. I am personally enjoying the slightly larger display since I didn't want to get the 12.9". Just too big for my use.

Until they put OSx on the iPads, they're pointless imo. At that price point.

I can edit on my ipad air 2 and get one drive for free as well. It's only for devices with larger than 10" screen you need a subscription to edit and save.

It's free on my ipad air 2, to edit and save to one drive. Also, I believe office online is free on any device.

Use Numbers, Pages, and Keynote. They can open, edit, and export office files.
