What's up with the license plate frames?
I think this would be the right place to complain. I saw a nice seemingly newer 6 series. The M badge was painted over, a dark blue. Why do that and emblazon "mmmmm66666" in paint down the side of your car? And an M license plate frame.
It reminds me of a day back in May. I was gassing up at my local Costco, and next to me a guy was gassing up his newer Rolls. When he pulled out, I noticed the "ROLLS ROYCE" license plate frame. Why? Seems idiotic to me. Of course, the Mercedes guy next to me this morning couldn't seem to figure out why I was shaking my head at him. But, if you are going to put an AMG badge on your car, maybe you should take the C250 badge off also. |

My both plates have M badges. Why? Previous owner did Euro delivery and optioned to have all M235i M badges removed (sides and rear). I kinda like at least some of them so instead of badging the car I bought 2 frames. Not as visible as on the car and I am happy

What do you guys think of the CF license plate frames vs. the black painted steel? I was thinking of getting the CF but they don't look that great and they're expensive, and I had already got the black steel ones (I think the CF frames weren't available yet when I got mine)

My favorite frames are the ones advertising the stealership you bought your car, along with the "Sewell" badge and any other crap they put on.
I laugh at everyone with advertisements on their cars. Like getting your money taken from you by Sewell instead of another is a badge of honor. |

Why can't a person own a non M car and love what the M stands for enough to put the license plate frame on it.
Do you get mad when people put these on their cars? Because not golf kart. |

I have a non m car with m frames, but it's close enough to being an M car that they're calling it that next year. You can get m performance aero and decals for any bimmer.

In my personal opinion license plate frames are like the opposite of condoms: they make the user feel better but using them is nearly always really dumb. I don't use them.

I couldn't care less about what ppl do w/ frames, but the plates having the same designation as the present car is just laughable, what happens when they sell the car? Clearly didn't think far ahead.

I got an ebay carbon fiber one for less then $20.
https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...frame&_sacat=0 I had to use a little double sided tape to make it sit flat but otherwise I am very happy with it. |

Can't stand licence plate frames with anything written on them. Just tacky. I prefer just a plain cover.

I think plate frames are a nice way to showcase your personality. Currently mine is a "University of X Alumni" plate. I'm gonna get one for my favorite football team at some point.
What looks hilarious is when somebody buys a used luxury car but keeps that dealer's plate frame. Why would you want everybody to know you bought your Bimmer or Audi used? Stop being cheap and spend the $10-20 on a new plate frame. I bought a slightly used luxury car from an Acura dealer and swapped those plates out the same day. |

I bought my acura brand new. The moment I got it home I removed paper plates and frames. First time I took it in for service, it came around and had the dealer plate frame on the back. I asked them to remove it before I drove it off. They got the hint and didn't try that again. I don't blame the dealers. Most people just don't care, and it's free advertising. |

Originally it started with ED, it was kind of a status symbol that you went to Europe to pick up your car. But like anything else, it gets copied and worn out so real EDers don't even do it anymore.

Tx, glad someone answered this as I was a bit curious. I thought that those Euro plates had some sort of legal use...but it's actually just a fashion statement? That's just super lame then.
