That looks ridiculously sketchy, but I understand the desire to save those nice cars. Good luck to him.

Man Saves His Beloved BMWs from Hurricane Harvey
A Texan by the name of Cody Crochet wasn't about to let Hurricane Harvey take away his beloved BMWs.
Because of the severe flooding caused by Harvey, he had to think of a creative solution and act quickly. Crochet details his experience in the following video: Some of you may remember the viral photo of Randy Jalil, a like-minded fellow who saved his E30 M3 from Hurricane Matthew last year.

Did the exact same thing during the 2015 Memorial Day flood and saved both cars - had them jacked up on bricks during torrential rain, lightning, no power in total darkness - will never forget that. Did unfortunately get 1.5 ft of water in house which was a single story back then - really depressing and horrible experience so sympathies to all those going through this.
Since then have raised home and total new construction above but critically also raised garage and put in a 4-post lift - thing is frikken' awesome and yes we, house and cars, survived Harvey with 2+ ft of elevation to spare - happy camper! Unfortunately all my neighbors are dealing with flooded homes (for literally 3-4 blocks in every direction). Only worse thing is I guess would be fire and/or tornado - helping with clean-up as much as I can - devastating. PS: Added a few pics of flooding in my street on early Monday morning - went down and back up Monday night! PPS: Copy from post #37in this thread: For anyone interested in the before and after of my 2015 Memorial day flood and house-garage rebuild I had some pics here (everything survived Harvey!) - scroll down to post #604: http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...038386&page=28 Also some extra pics of the new garage setup with raised roof and 4-post lift here: http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1374531 Update: Lower pic of house front is after doing some muck clean-up post Harvey; the others are pics immediately after the install of the lift and of the cars saved from the Tax Day flood in 2016 which also flooded homes and put water in the old pre-renovation garage!! Basically there have been 3 major events since Memorial Day 2015 and the house and cars saved each time by the combination of house lift and car lift! . So lad I made the decision immediately post_Memorial Day (house was actually in process of raising when Tax day hit and made it).

Thx guys but indeed I am very fortunate to be safe and dry this time - almost a sense of 'survivor guilt' if that makes sense - have to say there are a lot of rock solid folk out here doing a heck of a job getting people back on track.

Jeez, I can't even imagine this amount of rain. Living in LA I've pretty much had it drilled into my brain since birth that we are in a drought.

I know Cody from about 10 years ago. He always has been a car nut. Doesn't surprise me he would go to extremes to save his cars. Harvey was a crazy storm. Hope he gets his house sorted soon.
