NFL - Thanks for freeing up my Sundays

I get free speech. I love living in a country where one is free to exercise that right. But, I don't get using a football field while in a team uniform as a platform, no matter the validity of the message. I decide to take a break from NFL and spend my Sunday doing something, anything else than watch NFL. I'm sure they don't miss me, but I don't miss them either.

Well put. It's a game. It's supposed to be a break from the daily grind. I don't care if they can or can't protest. I don't care what they are protesting. It's against the rules to protest and as a result its irritating. It's also pissing off 64% of the population. The NFL only understand dollars. When the ratings drop and sales, it will stop these childish protests.

Honestly, I’ve started to become less and less interested over the last few years because of the continuous stoppages, reviewing of every play and touchdowns. There used to be 1pm and 4pm games. Now, those later games won’t start to at least 4:35. It’s become ridiculous. I think a lot of the slow pace has to do with the ability to make more money on ads for the NFL. They love it. Throw in the fact that you can’t take a family to game without taking out a loan and paying $50 for parking. Now, with all the protest from these out of touch felonies (25% of NFL players have felonies), I’m pretty much done.

I found on NFL Network where they get you through a game quicker by cutting out all that stuff. Obviously it’s after the fact but more enjoyable and doesn’t suck up my whole day. I wonder if they cut out the protest part.....haven’t watched it since that started happening.

I get your point. If anything I get your point of not wanting to see these things shoved in your face when you're trying to relax and not think about it.

But take it from another perspective...when can a black person protest then?

http://www.cc.com/video-clips/nujtiv...le-to-protest-

But hey, that's the privilege us non-blacks and non-browns can live with. It took a lot to convince me of this notion, but I believe it now.

if anything I'm fucking sick of sports and pop culture fucking deities. They are entertainers... There's a shit ton of real heros that are making real impact in people's lives and we're fucking caught up in OBJ's celebrations?

It's just fucking entertainment people. Win or lose, however many fantasy points you score, it's just that. Your life is still shitty on come Monday just as much as it was shitty on Friday. Time is likely better spent with your family, or figuring out finances, or fixing up your house or learning a new skill that'll benefit you financially.

I use to take college football really seriously and use to watch about 9 hours every Saturday (my team, the primetime game if my team isn't primetime, and then parts of another game). But today, I still try to watch my team every weekend, but I'm okay missing all of the other games. Even with my team, so far, half of the games were recorded and watched later. Otherwise I would have missed out on a lot of family time for what...sports?

I'll say it again. These people are the equivalent of the court jester. Problem is that they feel they are equal to the kings council. And when the fuck did the king ever take advice from his circus clowns?

Fans booing their home team BEFORE kickoff tells you a lot.
Cowboys and Patriots were two videos I saw. Not on msm, of course.
College ftw.

Edit: lifelong cowboys fan. Will watch the boys. Usually second half only. As said...too long to sit on my ass.

i just watch the the NFL channel on YouTube every Sunday night. Takes a little over an hour to see all the games and you just watch highlights.

Kind of miss Direct TV, but if I want to get my football fix, I just watch the PrimeTime games.

Sounds like you guys should get in to hockey where men just play the game..get teeth knocked out and go back out and play..drink beer all night and go out and play..don't beat up their girls....make much less money and play way more games. No politics. No crap. No BS. Just play.

Gave up on watching grown men play a child's game years ago.

Glad to see many other people now doing the same. Hopefully they'll find far more productive and rewarding things to do then idolize some overpaid thugs.

I didn’t set out last weekend to watch less football, it just happened naturally. I guess subconsciously I don’t feel the need to see guys use the flag as a tool to protest and then watch them run around on the field. Can’t remember the last time I didn’t tune in Mon night at least for a quarter or two.

Flags on every damn punt, returned kickoff, and pass over 30 yards coupled with referee challenges and now this shit.....no thanks; NFL can suck it.

I love it. Spend Sundays playing golf, shooting skeet, target shooting my pistols or rifles, hiking with my dog, washing my vehicles, etc. Shit, I'm thinking about getting back into mountain biking again

I don't miss that garbage even a little bit.

There's never a need. We are just exercising our right to free speech and expressing our personal thoughts. After all this is a forum which exists exactly for that purpose. At least we are not doing it while in a team uniform.

No more NFL, so I've started watching info-mercials, ya know copper pans,
rice cookers, "magic" vacuum cleaners, Ginsu knifes, bamboo steamers
. . . . some thing worthwhile !
