2017/2018 Hockey thread

Ok, boys and girls it's that time again for a new season to kick off--from my end we have a big change for the Sharks--no more Patrick Marleau who holds just about every record for the Sharks, especially in scoring. Long season ahead and hoping they can bring a cup home.

Im a huge Wings fan. Cant wait for the season to start. Although, I feel like its gonna be a tough one again for us this year. We need some changes... still hopeful though! Go Wings!!

Kings! New Head Coach in John Stevens, new GM in legend Rob Blake and new President in legend Luc Robitaille. Mainly the same team on the ice. Need to really step up production from our veterans so we have a shot at the playoffs in our very competitive conference and division. GKG!

Wow--that is some star power there. Don't know as far as players who the Kings have added, but they need to add youth and speed as their Stanley Cup veterans are showing age and slowness. In this league it takes constant change and having the right combo right at the playoff run.

I wish I could be all in on the Flyers this year, but I'm getting very tired of Hextall and Co. not embracing the youth movement.

There is no excuse for Andy MacDonald taking a D spot over Sanheim or Morin. No excuse for Weise over Lindblom.

The NHL gift wraps the draft lottery and provides the #2 pick on a silver platter and we can't just say thank you, here's to the rookies.

My opinion...Flyers became irrelevant the second they ditched Richards and Carter. Don't know what the deal was with them internally...must have been bad though, cause it cost them a cup or two. Being one of the biggest Flyer haters there are (rightfully so)...must say I danced a little.

And just cause you were a great player (one of the biggest, baddest goalies ever)...doesn't make you a GM. Just ask Gretzky.

Few cool things about winning....#1 is seeing your team on TV all summer long. #2 is getting to wear your favorite team t-shirts through the summer with zero guilt. #3 is trash talking with all you guys.

I'd be stunned to see the Pens do 3...I can see this in another city this go.

Time for the new season though. All these teams start to look better through the off-season. Really makes you wonder who's in...who's out. Any shocks this year...or you guys think status quo?

I can see Tampa back in the mix. Feel that would take Ottawa or Columbus out. Detroit and Buffalo need another year. I think the Caps could miss...didn't see much in the few preseason games I saw.

Hockey is the most un-predictable sport--can't even fathom predicting anything as teams change through the year and injuries pile up rendering strong teams weak.

I would still put the Pens in the mix as they have all the weapons and if they go into the playoffs with decent health and get the right match-ups sure they could take another.

So Thornton and Burns seem to have their playoff beard in place again this year. I couldn't stay up to see the end after Sharks tied it up at 3. Not positive I get to see 'king guys opening tonight because SOMEBODY volunteered me/truck to help her brother move. . .

Yeah, a couple of the biggest guys with the biggest beards. Pretty entertaining game but the Sharks lost....giving up four power play goals including Simonds hat trick( two of them crafty re-directs)...Sharks looked good in general, but if you can't stop the power play and take penalties then you won't win games.

Somebody is pretty damn generous with your time! There's always DVR. Hell that's how i watch about 1/3 of Man United games.
