that was a great head to head. I've said it before the new 8 speed in the gm z06 and ctsv are slow as dirt on the stock tune. it makes the old c63 trans look epic stock.

I thought the CTSV was going to crush the Merc on the track. Actually, I thought it was going to beat it in pretty much all the performance tests minus maybe the 1/4 mile, but it ended up being the opposite.

50% more for the Merc is tough to swallow. I'm pretty sure that's why they left it down to the lap time. It's odd that they didn't really even mention the price.
For the delta, you could almost by and M2!

Wow, definitely thought the E63 would come out on top. Can't wait to see how the M5 will compete against these 2!!

It's rare to see a non GM product come out ahead in these head to heads unless the other vehicle is from ford or Chrysler than its 50/50 either way who will win. I recall the Nissan GT-R also being slower than another certain GM product. It seems all these all wheel drive cars are inferior to rear wheel drive muscle cars.

The results were not too surprising, the current CTS-V has been out for a while and the E63 is a fresher redesign. The Merc is probably up on wheel-HP and low-end torque, as they tend to dyno close to their "rated" HP, rather than the other cars that usually use SAE crank-HP, and the turbos on those things are usually tuned for amazing flat curves that give peak TQ from ridiculous low RPMs, but the CTS-V is probably a little better chassis/tuned better from a suspension standpoint. Chevrolet learned how to make cars turn a few years ago and have been putting out world-class cars in terms of performance. Just the fact that you can compare a CTS-V with a E63 says a lot about how-far we have come. That said, I'd say the E63 is a little more impressive for doing it all with it's awd system and what that can do, but the CTS-V is not your grandmother's Cadillac. It goes. If they made a wagon version of the current, I would have gotten it. That was one badass wagon and again, a good example of what GM can do. We need manufacturers to stand up against the onslaught of the "practical" and do some of the "fun".
