Formula 1 & Miami
Super excited about this; looks like Miami may be hosting F1 again!!!
I remember as a little kid watching it in downtown! Hopefully everything gets squared away and they close on the 10 year contract with Miami!! https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/h...atement-2.html :happy anim: |

That would be incredible. Would this eliminate the race in Austin, TX or would there just be two USA races now?
I am going to try to make it to Austin this year, have been dying to see an F1 race in person. |

Great news.
Even if most Americans I know like bashing Miami / Florida, the rest of the world will consider this a super glamorous F1 venue. And I will be there!

I believe they will keep Austin also from what I've read. I wouldn't mind going to Miami to see an F1, although the proposed course layout looked lame and I heard the streets/area that it was proposed were not too good.

Yea the layout I saw had two very long straits and not a ton of curves. Also, the straights are on a bridge going from the AA arena (where the Heat play) to the port of miami and there would be no real way to set up spectator stands along there. Hopefully they will bring it inland more and make it more of a true city circuit. They should use Biscayne Blvd for the straight aways instead of the bridge.

Apparently they are saying this race will not happen in 2019 now, not until 2020 at the earliest I have read a few articles of people who are skeptical it will ever happen.

A bunch of Miami officials didn't give them the go ahead in time or something, worried about noise I guess. I heard they were trying to have it in Vegas in 2019 now.

Once again the short sightedness of bureaucrats wins.

Similar happened in Boston with the Indycars. It was all planned out, they sold tickets, advertised it, etc then for political reasons got shut down and people were not getting refunds. Turned out to be a disaster.

I'm not ruling out another US F1 GP, but given how many worldwide venues are battling for a race, why would they have two in the US, which is not a big market? France, home of the grand prix, lost a race for 10 years. So did Austria, Argentina, San Marino, Luxemberg, etc. |

how many races we will have per season? or something will be dropped? we had this crazy every weekend race schedule and its exhausting to the teams. All about more profit ... and no quality we get from new management...

They should take a look at how the set up the St Pete Grand Prix. Awesome event in St Petersburg Florida, from top to bottom. I’ve been a few times. If they can do it there I don’t understand why F1 can’t get it done in these bigger cities.
