Another "What Should I Buy?" thread
I have to part with my 135 in September. I love the car to death, but with 100k on the odometer, I'm going to get a new car in September (when my daily commute becomes unbearable again).
I am struggling with what to replace the 1er with. I wouldn't be opposed to a low milage '13 135, though I really do need a 4 door. My candidates: 2015 S3: Seems to have a performance profile similar to the 135. Found one with 25k miles for $26k. The big drawbacks: maintanence costs, and I'll have the same problem I have with the 135. A bitch of a commute (32 miles) at an average of 30 miles an hour. Should I spend my money on something else besides a car? 2015 Infinity q50 or q60: Seems like a lot of car for $20k. The past Infinity's and Nissan's I've owned have been very reliable. or 2015 _______ (Accord, Altima, Optima, Sonata, Camry, etc, etc) These all run $15k or so with leather and 4 bangers. This is the most responsible option, but will my soul be satisfied? I HATE fwd cars and the torque steer, but I guess with the performance of these cars, that really won't be an issue. My finances should be better in 2 or 3 years to let me get into a car I really want. Until then, these are the cars I am looking at. Of course, other suggestions are welcome. |

I had (2) 135's before I got into the e92. I loved the little devils! Why not look for a CPO 2 series?

Or do the really $-wise thing get a GTI Sport with a warranty until your situation improves financially. That is without a doubt the best performance value option out there.
Let's be honest 30mph who really cares you're not canyon carving.

Thanks, but really not a VW fan, outside of the Golf R, and they are outside my $ range right now.

Love my GTI - Amazing little car for the money! A used S3 would be a good option too!
Good luck man!

Do yourself a favour and go cheap/reliable for your commuter and get yourself financially set to get something great for your next one. Civic, Mazda 3 or gti or anything like that can all be run for next to nothing in depreciation if well bought and then we’ll cared for, polish and detail it prior to reselling it in 3 years, will be cheapest option which will then open up more exciting options In The future. just don’t get sucked into buying other crap which will zap your wealth and keep you down.

Agreed. No point half assing it right now and get something you really want in 3 years. By then the 10k you saved now will be 13k or more if invested wisely. I concur with the Mazda 3. Cheap, reliable, fun drive that is a comfortable commuter.

He's got a massive commute and you guys are putting forward sharpish cars, makes zero sense.
Loaded Lincoln MKZ, cheap as chips, reliable, powerful, comfortable, looks ok and makes the commute bearable. |
