How do you take disconnect a sprinkler?

I have one sprinkler head in my apartment complex that waters the front corner of my car. its soooo annoying. i dont really wanna just break the head, cause then water will just go everywhere, and maintence will just come and fix it, plus if they catch me, they are gonna be pissed at me physically breaking it. is there any way to turn it off so water just doesnt come out? if it helps, the hose that feeds it is sticking up out of the ground alot.

Depends on the type of sprinkler head. Most are adjustable to the pattern they spray. Some are not.

You cannot just remove it, unless you find out the diameter of the hose it's attached to, dig around it, detach the existing head, and put a correct size pressure plug on the end of the hose.

get a small flat-head screwdriver.........and twist the knob counter-clock all the way to shut it off.......

at least that's how mine works....but i'm not sure about industrial sprinklers.....

or when the sprinkler comes on....twist the whole thing to spray away from your car....

Right, with some sprinkler heads, you can just twist them to divert the spray pattern (if it's assymetric). Like Natureboy said, you can also adjust the spray volume by using a flat-head screwdriver; look for a screw at the center of the spray, and turn it clockwise.

If the spray pattern is symmetric, it may simply need a different sprinkler head.

Have you tried asking the people at your apartments if they can adjust the sprinkler head? They may fix it and you won't have to go through the trouble of messing with it yourself. It would probably be in their best interest not to waste water on the concrete/asphalt as it tends not to grow.
