Samsung Refrigerators
Can I get some feedback on anyone owning a Samsung refrigerator? I read horror stories about performance, reliability, and customer service.
I need a refrigerator for a space that is only 67" x 33" (exactly). Selection is limited on the high end without getting more available height. Samsung makes a French door that is only ~$1500, and looks ok for a sorta-budget French door. https://www.samsung.com/us/home-appl...tasg-aa/#specs

Our Samsung fridge popped a leak through the ventilation system inside and caused it to drip under the deli tray. We only noticed it because the tray would not budge one day.
It just so happened that the warranty ran out a month prior so we were on our own. Tossed it and got an LG |

I have one that has an Ice maker issue that Samsung admits is a defect but refused to take care of it. Paid for a service call and tech hillbillies it no charge, as he warned us fixing it correctly is $500 and no doubt will have the same issue later. Great product other then, french 4door

I also have french double door/bottom freezer/through door ice maker water dispenser. It's branded as a GE but is really a Samsung refrigerator. Had it for probably about 8 years now. Overall, ok. But had some problems with it. Shortly after getting it, the frig would make some loud knocking popping noise. Had a tech come out to look it over and could never find the problem (of course) and the frig would never make the noise when the tech was here (of course). It eventually went away on its own. Had some sensor go bad which was replaced under the extended warranty I got. I also seem to recall a board needing to be replaced too but not entirely certain.
Current problem I have is some frosting issue with the coil in the back of the refrigerator section. It's causing water to build up at the bottom of the refrigerator. If I don't drain out the water over time it'll spill over and leak out onto the floor of the kitchen. I talked to a tech a while ago about this and said it is a common problem with those refrigerators. Told me how to do a fix for it, but I've been too lazy to take apart the refrigerator to try the fix. |

My house came with a Samsung fridge. I probably wouldn't have chosen it myself, but it's been working just fine for the past four years.

i had a samsung. bought it 3 years ago. totl. after 4 major repairs my home warranty gave me 3500 to buy a new fridge. awful product. had ice maker replaced multiple times. then lines in the rear of the fridge kept freezing over, it'd have to be thawed out every few weeks. replaced it with a GE that I've had for 6 mos now without a problem.
pic above my post looks like the one i had. |

I also have the Samsung pictured. Would get an LG next time; never again a Samsung.
My complaints are its (1) poor space utilization, and (2) birdbrain design-engineering shortcomings.

My in-laws have a Samsung, twice now the refig ended up demo mode which turns off the compressors but all the lights work, so you think the refig is running but it is not and there is no way to knows until everything melts in the freezer.
Turns out the controls for refig are on the front where the water and ice dispenser are when cleaning the front you can easily press the right key combination to put the unit in demo mode. I can not believe how stupid this is. Every refig I have owned always had the controls inside and in an out of way place. BTW I just replaced our refig and went with kitchenaid, I have replaced all of our appliances with kitchenaid, and bought them at Sears scratch and dent, at 50% to 60% off. Great deal and units had minors scratches where you could not see. No reason to pay full price. |

Worst appliance I’ve owned. I have like a $2800 French door Samsung fridge with bottom freezer with ice and water on outside. GARBAGE.
Freezer thawed twice, randomly. Ruined all my food both times. “Support” came out both times only to report that it had magically begun freezing again, with no faults. Ice maker replaced 3 times. Each time froze over and stopped making ice. Solution was to turn off ice maker and buy ice from the store. Tastes better anyway. A fan stopped working, replaced under warranty. This was all in the first 3 years. The last 2 years, it’s been fine without making ice. It’s also loud as fuck and I’m rolling it out to the curb the next issue I have and cutting my losses. Samsung also has about the worst customer service I’ve dealt with in my life. Incompetent. Slow. Don’t give a shit. |

We have had ours for a couple of years without any issues so far. I agree it can be a bit loud when running. We had numerous problems with the GE it replaced over the years.

Yes, the noise... OMG, the NOISE!! When the compressor kicks in, there's a loud vibration. And occasionally, there's a multiple knock or thunk that used to make me think the house was coming apart. I'd probably have sold the POS by now, but how, in good conscience, could I sell the turd to someone else?? At least the ice-maker hasn't ever broken, but simply because I never use ice. Do not buy a Samsung! And this includes their laundry machines which I actually did send back for a refund.

Everything mentioned above plus the doors DO NOT close on their own! Just go and compare in the store if you relase the door pushing it slightly it will close on ever other brand.

You're asking about the reliability of a Samsung refrigerator on the BMW forums..... lol.
They are the same. Both unreliable. I've got one. You can have it. Only broke. Once tho. Better than the washer dryer. |

I have got a Samsung but mine is one of the entry levels not having some fancy gadgetry as yours . It performs better than Bosch .I like Bosch as a brand but Samsung is doing better job because Bosch ,in hot days, constantly keeps beeping to alert unless you press Deep Freeze button whereas Samsung is just working as it should .
