Samsung Galaxy S10 = NOPE
Too embarrassed to admit which iteration of the Galaxy I'm still using but I'm ready to upgrade. Popped inside a T-Mo store to see what's up and was immediately steered towards the trio of Galaxy S10s. Basically:
S10e - $800 S10 - $900 S10+ - $1000 All three were light years ahead of my S, uh... nevermind (although - the rep did offer $150 for ol' Bessie as trade-in). Nevertheless, I did my due diligence on the www before pulling the trigger on a product that'll be tethered to me from wake-up to beddy-bye for the next several years. I was surprised at some of the stuff I read from reputable outlets. Especially, "Every Galaxy S10 model is fitted with UFS 2.1 storage, despite Samsung announcing the commercial availability of UFS 3.0 which is twice as fast and more efficient, so it has less battery drain." (Forbes) Apparently, UFS 2.1 tranfers 23.2Gbps UFS 3.0 transfers 11.6Gbps resulting in "apps loading and responding dramatically faster." Also, UFS 2.1 has 3.3V power supply UFS 3.0 has 2.5V power supply resulting in: -huge performance boost -less power consumption -longer battery life You may be saying, "So what buttercup? They didn't use 3.0 so get over it." Well peep this... Evidently, "Samsung has already confirmed the Galaxy Fold will have UFS 3.0 when it launches next month and every Samsung flagship phone will feature this next-generation storage from now on." Here's a kicker - when the Galaxy S9 was released it went for $720. In one month the model had lost 41.66% of its value. In nine months it'd lost nearly 60% and was worth $290. Heck, it takes several years for even a bimmer's price to be cut in half. Can you imagine how quick and how much this new S10 will depreciate when Samsung starts dropping superphones in a month? Guess 'ol Bessie is sticking around for a little longer.

Yeah, I guess if you never really care to update yr phone until it literally becomes a rock--then yeah just wait until that tech comes out (whenever that is). Funny thing is I was just reading and researching these phones today and it looks like they have upped their game a bit making it to the top of the 2019 Best Phones so far.
Although, I still have my Note 8 in excellent condition so I'm definitely not looking for a new phone. Android Piiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Where arrrrrrrrreeee yoooooouuuuu?? |

S8 Active here. No intention of letting go until it's rendered useless. I generally hang on to mine for about 4 years or so. Then the updates bog it down and replacing the cracked screen costs more than buying a replacement... I'd probably still have my S5 if that wasn't the case.

I'm not poo-pooing on the S10s, just amazed they released them with that 3-year-old tech. They are indeed pretty amazing devices.
It's said Samsung plans to offer the new stuff as early as next month. Reportedly the Note 10 is coming out in August and it'll have UFS 3.0. Having said all that, I could still end up with a UFS 2.1 phone if the performance of the 3.0 versions don't justify the price.

While I agree with you, I still bought one. I had an apple phone for 4 years. I can't do them anymore. I then bought a galaxy s6 in summer of 2015 and used it until yesterdays upgrade. My s10+ is a welcomed upgrade. I didn't want to bite the bullet because there hasn't been anything exciting in cell tech, to me at least. The photos it takes are impressive. Looking at the photo on my phone, it appears sharper than the one below. I assume it has to do with me uploading it to a 3rd party site and then uploading it here, downgrading the photo.

It was actually pretty dang cool watching the salesperson demonstrate the 49 camera lenses. Especially as mine has 1, and it's cracked.

s10 is a solid phone but the ultrasonic fingerprint reader is not as responsive as i had hoped
i don't think you should get into the nitty gritty technical details because at the end of the day if it can run apps smoothly then it's fine yes the price is hard to swallow, then maybe you can consider s9 |

Not to my eye. Perfect as is. If she was mine, only thing I'd entertain is possibly some window tint.

Gotta say it seems weird to be getting all bothered about the storage thing. The internal storage speed on the S10 will be more than adequate.
As for the depreciation, we’re already getting discounts showing up here in Australia, and it has barely been on the shelves for a week. If you really keep your phones so long though, what does it matter what it’s worth in a year? |

Where are you finding them new for 290? A quick Amazon search shows it current costs 536 for the cheapest new one. |

Why spend $1,000 if I can wait 4 weeks and pay half that? I waited 3 years to buy a '15 X5 50i M-Sport but I saved $40k.

LOL, if I had an S9 I wouldn't be in the market either. Unfortunately my S5 (yes, I said five) appears to be on its last leg.
