Well, the fastest car didn't win the race, but the more reliable one did. Vettel made another unforced error, spinning as Hamilton passed him. Vettel's tendency to push too hard under pressure seems to be continuing in 2019. Leclerc was running a great race, even after getting shuffled at the start. Hate to see him lose his engine and fall back so close to the end of the race. He was lucky to have his podium finish saved by the safety car.
McLaren is running very well! Good to see them back in form and legitimately fighting. I wonder how Fernando would have enjoyed racing for them this year? Both of Renault's cars blowing up on the same lap at the same turn, smh. Hulkenberg was pulling magic out of his....car....able to go from the back of the pack to the front. Haas turned in yet another dismal performance after showing great pace. They are lucky Renault blew up and didn't lose many points to the other midfield teams today. My prediction: Gasly won't last the season at Red Bull. |

Great to see Kimi scrapping with faster cars; as stated in this thread - Vettel's continued debacle of unforced errors is not good; perhaps his 4 WDC's were due to a mega-superior race car at that time of F1

Ditto. I didn't know much about him until I watched the Amazon F1 series -- it's tough not to root for him. I've never been so interested in hoping a race finished under the SC.
Ultimately, I want to see close racing, multiple winners and more than two people competing for the (drivers) championship. |

The pressure just keeps increasing at Ferrari. In 2017 they sign Vettel to a huge 3 year contract. Vettel's performance becomes more and more suspect however and the cars never seem to be able to be consistently superior to Mercedes. Without that contract you wonder if they would have brought in LeClere, let Vettel go and kept Kimi? Way cheaper and possibly a better end result.

I can't believe it, Merc actually went 1-2. Another astonishing, unbelievable result in an F1 race! Nobody saw that one coming!

Leclerc and Norris though, are both future world champions. It was a very good race, one of the best in the last few years. Looking forward to China. |

![]() The future looks bright indeed with Leclerc, Lando and Max! And again we see evidence that Vettel is the most overrated guy in the sport. His 4 titles against Alonso just 2 is insane.

Where were you 2 weeks ago, when VET outqualified and beat LEC? I was waiting for you to congratulate Vettel. After all, that's only fair, right? You also seem to forget that, for the past 2 years, Vettel has not only trounced his teammate, but the 2nd car on the championship team. That must be because he's all washed-up. ![]() |

VET only beat LEC because LEC was told to hold position. Did you even watch the race? So he trounced a 37 and 38 year old RAI who is as unmotivated driver as I've seen in the 40+ years I've been a student of F1. And comparing HAM to VET is just plain ridiculous. You see what happens when they are in equal platforms. LeClerc will trounce Vettel just as Ricciardo trounced him and ran him off from RedBull. Care to place a bet on this?

And anybody can claim anything about radio transmissions that the public isn't privy to. But I look forward to the competition between VET and LEC. Assuming one of them doesn't have a crippled car twice as often as the other, it should be good for both drivers as well as Ferrari. |

Why would I bet on this? I'm a Ferrari fan, so as long as one of them beats Merc, I'm happy. And how do I know how the season will unfold? If it turns out that LEC is a faster, more skilled driver, then good for him!

![]() The radio transcript is what was said during the race broadcast. Why are you going against actual evidence? McLaren wasn't a top team by performance in 2009, 2010, or 2011. Being well funded isn't the same as being a top team. Just remember one statistic: Lewis Hamilton is the only driver to have won a race in every season he's raced. Even the seasons he's had crap cars: 2009, 2010, 2011 (McLaren) or 2012 (Mercedes). No matter what, he can drag a car to a win.
