a typical CD holds ~700MB of data

the only way you can put 500 tracks on a single CD is if the average size of each track is only 1.4MB (high compression / low quality)

you should encode your MP3 files in at least 320kb/s

No one is getting 500 songs on a CD-R unless they are encoded like absolute dog sheit or they are 10 second punk songs :P

This is not relevant.

Yeah...you're not gonna get that many songs on a CD-R unless you compress the shit out of em until the quality sucks.

Newer CD-Rs are 800MB... At least you'll get an extra 100MB out of it, but that's like maybe 20 extra songs at a 128kbps bitrate

128 is okay - slight difference but you'd need some solid speakers to tell the difference.

320kb/s? You, as a human being, cannot tell the difference between that and 256 or even 192.

I personally keep 192 as the minimum

Agreed, I rip at 192 and can understand 256, but you have to agree that 320 is excessive and the differences are beyond the range of human perception.

You CAN tell the difference. Some people don't hear the difference, some do.
I do, because i DJ. If you play anything less than 320k on a club sound system, it will sound like ass.
