Driving sunglasses
What are your favorite sunglasses? I have an oakley with polarized black glasses. Black Prism I think.
Really nice glasses and noticeable relaxing for the eyes. Especially on the water. Still have it but due to the polarization I can't see the HUD with it. So, in for new glasses and happy to see some inspiration and experiences with the HUD.

I don't have driving glasses, really. But I mostly wear Oakley Frogskins. I keep a non polarized pair in the BMW so I can see the screen.

I didn’t want to invest a fortune in prescription sunglasses and I found these. They are wonderful. But they are polarized. I only wear polarized, which is why I didn’t get the HUD. Kinda wish I had it now, but que sera sera.

I bought a pair of old school, non-polarized Vuarnets. The price tag made me sick. I remember when I lived at Squaw Valley and we were all upset when they went from $10 to $15.

I just got a pair of prescription Maui Jim's. Didn't intend to be that fancy but I liked how they looked/fit and with insurance was only like $15 more than anything else there.
But...to get the tint I wanted they had to be polarized. So no HUD with those. If it's bright and I want HUD, I have to wear contacts and the I have a cheap* pair of plastic sunglasses I bought on board a cruise ship. *They were quite expensive due to cruise ship pricing and my failure to pack properly, but the glasses themselves are pretty ordinary. Still, they've lasted almost 6 years now so I can't really complain. |

I found a pair of sunglasses with reading bifocal inserts. Can't read the gauges without them. Sucks losing that up close vision.
Got them here: https://www.readers.com/reading-sunglasses.html On my motorcycle I use these: https://www.amazon.com/Bifocal-Safet...gateway&sr=8-4

I got prescription sunglasses from Warby Parker. If you have your prescription information, there are certainly cheaper places.
I needed something with thin sides (temple?) so it's not uncomfortable when wearing a helmet and they did the trick. |

I'm kinda big into sunglasses, wallets, belts, etc. My favorite sunglasses at the moment are my Persol 2747's in black. Now that I see the price has dropped significantly on these since I bought mine, I may grab a pair of the Havana's too (https://www.persol.com/usa/0PO2747S--95-48) If they are good enough for Steve McQueen and James Bond, they good enough for me dammit. My favorite driving glasses would be my 7 year old Ray-Ban Predators. They are just extremely light, comfortable and fit my face perfectly. I also have several pair of Oakley's (5 sqaured, Wirez, Scalpels & Gas Can) but I only wear them when doing yard work and some type of outdoor sports/activities. Personally I feel unless you are a police officer or a professional volley ball player, buy something other than Oakley.....although my prescription glasses are these. https://www.oakley.com/en-us/product...t=888392078285 |
