Which leather care products to use?
Hi,
Just got my M340 and am loving it! The car has Cognac Vernasca leather interior. What's best to clean & condition the leather? Thank you very much

I tried chemical guys leather cleaner and it actually left a stain on my rear seat. Wouldn't wipe off with mf cloth. Ended up using mother's VLR to clean it up and stain came out. No residue, and left it dry. Users beware. I use a lot of chemical guys products but the leather cleaner was pretty disappointing.

Zaino Z-9 followed with Z-10. I have been using these for years and they never fail to deliver good results even on light interiors.
I use Griots interior cleaner during weekly washes which yields great results.

M340 Steering Wheel Care
Appreciate the terrific feedback.
My steering wheel is covered in a "spongy" material (like full M cars) that I've been told is Napa leather. My question is how do I care for it? How do I clean and maintain? Thanks

Leather Master Strong Leather Cleaning Bundle - 250ml https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MG8PYDZ..._ggbYDb0DHGEFV
I have went through a number of products over the years (Lexol, BMW's brand, etc) and this has always worked the best. Three stage system which leaves leather as soft as it was brand new along with a matte finish. Tip- after each stage and fully drying, wipe with a damp cloth prior to moving on/finishing. I used it on my 19' 330i. Actually after a week of a loaner 330, first thing I noticed getting back in my car is that the wheel felt newer. I am also a freak about car cleaning and upkeep so this may be overkill for most - just cannot stand when things like the steering leather is beaten to death and super shiny on the top edge cause skin oil/lotion/dirt/cleaning products with silicone are used. |

My wife bought a stain remover to use on baby poop and other stains, for when our baby comes into our lives in May. It’s called puracy natural stain remover.
I noticed that my seat (driver’s side) had lots of dye transfer from my jeans. Wife asked me to give this a go before I use lexol on it (I used lexol last time and it removed 90% of the stains). I used puracy on the affected parts, left it there for 2 hours (it says upto 8 hrs or more for heavy stains and 15 mins for light stains). Cleaned it up after 2 hrs and I was surprised. It got 99% of the stains out. Seat looks brand new once again. I did not expect it to work at all but it did and I’m a convert. https://puracy.com/products/natural-stain-remover I’m in no way attached to puracy. Nor am I trying to promote it. I thought I’d post it here in case it helps someone. If it doesn’t work for you, don’t blame me. It worked for me. That isn’t a guarantee that it’ll work for you Edit - Our X3 has a streak on the rear passenger seat that’s been there for a few years now. Let me see if this will work on that.

After spending a lot of time researching leather cleaning products with no shiny/glossy residue, i finally settled on the Leather cleaning kit from Chemical Guys (Cleaner + Conditioner) but found that the conditioner still left some residue and changed the original color of my Black Vernasca leather from a matt dark grey (imo) to a dark black with some residue which I could feel between my fingers after rubbing them on the leather.
Switched the Chemical Guys conditioner with Colourlock Leather Shield after a thorough clean with the Chemical guys cleaner and liked the results much more with no change to the oem leather look and feel and no residue whatsoever. |

I switched from Meguir's leather cleaner/conditioner to Sonax Leather Foam. Not bad at all, does not leave greasy or shiny layer on the seat. Matt finish! I know it's also protected as well.

I use CarPro ceramic coating for leather. Does not make leather stiff, it's a clean matt look.

How is swisswax compared to Zaino products? Is there a better product in the market than these two?

I too have been using Lexol for many years, and love what it does to my jackets, furniture, steering wheels, etc.
But as I did my first application a few days ago, I got the impression it does very little for vernasca leather, because it can really only be applied to the protective coating on top of the leather. It did seem to dissipate / dry quickly, which is one reason I like the product versus the gooey leather care products that leave residue. But I don't feel it really soaked into the leather. No doubt the softer leather on the steering wheel appreciated the conditioning, but as far as the seats go I'm not sure. With my jackets there is almost an immediate softening effect that takes place. I didn't feel this with in the seating surfaces. Also curious if the stitched material on the door panels is leather or sensatec? |
