Top Gear: Porsche Taycan Turbo S vs Tesla Model S
The moment as we've all been anticipating. After doing a whole lap on the Nurburgring, in Top Gear's test, the Taycan beats Tesla Model S.
Enjoy

I wonder who the Taycan buyers are.... former Tesla owners perhaps?
If only VAG would rebadge the Taycan for Audi... say an RS4, it would obliterate Ms in an instant. |

This isn't a contest. The Model S isn't designed to go on a track. They're very quickly thermal limited. And the stability control sucks and isn't easily disabled. Plus an open diff, electronically regulated and we know how much those are worth. This has all been known for many years and hasn't changed.
On the other hand the Porsche is designed to put out its power for longer, has brakes and suspension designed with some track use in mind. And you can turn off the stability control, which is very good for a skilled driver. Like wow who do you think will win? They're different cars guys. Don't you get that? |

I think there were some blog posts from some "tesla long" websites that show a Model 3 Performance doing repeated launches with no perceivable performance degradation or limp mode.

Tesla S have run well into 10’s, but they do not run over 130mph in the 1/4. Tops Tesla S can trap 127mph. Taycan is very quick with 131.8mph trap. They show the Tesla S in Ludicrous Plus mode in the video, but there is a Ludicrous Plus(plus) mode that takes 15mins to heat up batteries.

Basically Porsche is using "outdated" Rimac Concept One technology for Taycan(Porsche have 10% share in Rimac) just powered down, but enough to beat Model S.
If anyone doesn't know what Rimac is, I'll put old video, race with Tesla at 1:20
