leather care: Colourlock or Swisswax
I have done enough research on leather care but even doing a simple Google search does not show Colourlock or Swisswax being recommended.
I came across Colourlock by mistake and watched them repair a leather seat with leather dye. It got me thinking since my wife's 2012 GTI Autobahn with black leather seats has a very small minor leather wear on the driver's side left bolster by the mid section of the stomach if you were sitting in the seat. Do any of the forum members have any feedback on the Courlock and Swisswax? |

Colourlock seems very professional and looks to be a good route if you want leather repair. I'd assume their leather cleaning products would be top notch considering their history and knowledge. Swisswax is a good company, but they definitely charge higher prices. |

I absolutely love Swissvax leather care. I have the full kit that came with the cleaner, leather milk, brush, towel, etc...
The product dries quickly to a matte finish, which I prefer. I can't stand the wet look leather care that takes forever to dry. The brush is the real key. It helps get the foaming cleaner down into the grain to lift stubborn dirt. |

I had quartz leather coating put on my M5 and will start using Swissvax in a few months. Been using it in my X5 for about a year and love it. Hate shiny leather.

I have used both on my M5 leather.
In my opinion colourlock cleaner is better than Swisswax - it is in a form of a foam so it is easier to work with. In terms of leather protection leather versiegelung leaves nice mate fininish. Swisswax milk left a little bit shinner fininsh from what I saw. However still it was very very nice. I read that this type of milk products are moisturising leather, what is not needed in the first 3 years when you use your leather. Personally - I would go for colourlock clener instead of swisswax. It is simply better. For first 3 years I would go for leather versiegelung to protect the leather. After that time when the leather will be getting less soft, I would use Swisswax leather milk to moisturise it. |
