Woodcliff Lake, NJ – January 3, 2020… BMW sales totaled 35,746 vehicles in December 2019, an increase of 4.0 percent over the 34,357 vehicles sold in December 2018. For the full year 2019 BMW sales increased 4.4 percent on total sales of 324,826, compared to the 311,014 vehicles sold in 2018.

In 2019, BMW brand sales in the U.S. continued to rise on the strength of new model launches from the company’s ongoing product offensive, and the increased availability of its U.S.-built Sports Activity Vehicles, including the best-selling X3 and X5 and first-ever X7. The all-new, seventh-generation of the iconic BMW 3 Series launched in February and was a top performer in the premium sedan segment.

“We’ve talked a lot over the course of the past two years about having the right product mix for the market, and we believe that with all of our recent launches, we have just that,” said Bernhard Kuhnt, president and CEO, BMW of North America. “BMW currently has the youngest and most exciting product portfolio in the segment. We are very pleased with our results in 2019 and wish to thank both our customers and dealers for their tremendous support.”

The sales increase in 2019 came from a very predictable source: X series light trucks and introduction of X7. Not a surprise as that's the market trend as of today.

X7 sales tell a convincing story that's the right car for the intended market segment.

These reports always crack me up. Ok, so they share the sales figures...what about production numbers/expenses?

I realize we're not shareholders, and there's no obligation to publish revenue/expense figures for us, but really...sharing only one side of the story is pretty silly and pointless.

It would be more informative/meaningful to share overall net profit numbers. A real P&L would be enlightening.

Truck sales up and car sales meh

I wonder what they're thinking about their car sales. While the 3 is up, the 3/4 are way down from a few years ago.

Solid performance by BMW with higher year over year sales in a flat to soft market.

Great result for the 3 series and the 8 series.
The 5 series will have the lci for 2021 model.
Not a surprise for the X line-up big sales 😁

This is why Ford and GM are exiting the car business and moving to making big ugly SUVs. When car buying trends shift they will go back to making cars. Makes me wonder why BMW makes so many versions of the 8 and the V12 7 series.

Doesn't matter to me. What I care about is whether BMW makes the best car for me. How many they sell doesn't matter to me.

It's published, it just doesn't get a press release, because no media cares about it outside of financial sites.

I would expect anything you want to know can be found here -

Agree.

Problem is, some folks feel they must be on the 'winning' side. Whether it's the fastest, perceived to be best in segment, or top of the sales charts.

Although, one could argue the more vehicles they sell begets more $$ for R&D to develop more vehicles and the "best" vehicle for you

I know for my wife and I we bought this year because it's the last year with a hardtop convertible and the last year with normal grills. I love our BMW but I'm not sure we will buy one ever again

Real sales? Or inflated sales BMW is being investigated for?

GM and Ford are exiting the passenger car Industry, because their cars suck.

They are operating on denial and borrowed time, as such their potential failure is quite eminent.
