How do you all feel about Land Rover/Range Rover?
I personally are extremely intrigued by there features, heritage and looks. It seems however from the feedback I have received that no matter what model you get they are hopelessly unreliable. How do you feel about what Land Rover has to offer over other SUV's as well as how they hold up all around?

The only thing worse than RR reliability is their resale value. Steal a lightly used one in the current anti-SUV marketplace. The general design, inside and out, is much more appealing to me than anything from Lexus. I helped a friend buy one recently, new, they sold it to her for under invoice.

My dad has a 2005 Range Rover HSE, and only problem so far has been front differential going out. Other then that, guzzles gas, and goes through windshield wipers a lot.
Overall, I think the reliability of the car is a hit or miss... Check out the RR forums... http://www.rangerovers.net/forum/

I don't like them... And at the overly expensive prices I'd rather have a Cayenne or X5/6...

Mom has a RR Sport. She loves it. Before that she had an LR3 with no major issues and before that a Discovery III also no issues. Only thing is they do suck on gas. I think she gets about 10 mpg average (mostly stop and go town driving).

Stay away! Girlfriend had RR sport for about 10 months. It was in for repairs about 5 times. Only service dealer in our area (Encino) also a nightmare. No customer support. Sold it and took a big hit. Then the guy we sold it to called me about problems and his wife being stranded, tow trucks etc etc etc. All in the great tradition of Ford. Maybe Tata will turn it around.

I know "sis", but that wasnt included in the question, I just stated what I thought about them. Besides who the fuck takes their ?ber expensive brand spankin' new RR offroad? 10%?
Maybe an old land rover but that's about it... I took a course with the Jeep Wrangler doing all crazy stuff offroad, and that car could probably go further offroad than a RR with 3 flat tires! ![]() If it's offroad you want to do... ![]() Look at the Merc Benz GL450 instead; much better...3 rows of seats (3rd row goes up/down electronically with a push of a button), Navi system, bluetooth, rotating Xenon headlights, dual DVD screens in headrests, HK Logic7 sound, Keyless Go - keyless entry/start, power tailgate, 3-zone a/c, etc. We love our GL450; and believe it or not, it's been very reliable (other than the tires wearing too quickly)! I really think it's the best large SUV on the road today! ![]()
