Anyone know where I can get N95 facemasks?
I bought a couple of disposable N95 face masks from my town pharmacy a couple of weeks ago but have like 1 left now.
Just need a couple more for when I step outside but I can't find them anywhere. Let me know if you have any ideas! Thanks and stay safe yall |

Unless you're taking care of someone coughing, you really don't need them.
Ideally, everyone would wear a simple mask. This way, the spittle that comes out when one coughs or sneezes is caught in the mask before it gets aeresolilzed. Beside, N95 masks are really hard to get and there's a bunch of fake ones out there from... CHINA!! .

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

just re-use the same one. I mean its not ideal but its better than nothing. most masks are going to go to health care workers first anyway so the general public isn't going to have much luck getting one. Just try not to touch or contaminate the inside of the mask with hands that aren't washed.

People like me in the healthcare industry need them more than the general public right now. I have a very limited supply and need to protect myself if I have an emergency patient who I need to treat in my office. If you do get some, consider donating them to your doctor or local hospital.
Thanks.

I have 6 that have not been used I would not hesitate to donate to you or someone locally if that's even a possibility. I guess my concern is how the recipient would know they are not contaminated?

Good luck finding them. They are all being sent to medical locations now, all the stores that would carry them are not going to get them now.

Are you a healthcare professional? Otherwise, you don’t need one. Save it for those on the frontlines.

I pray for this Covid-19 curve to flatten out. My hometown, NYC looks like something out of a sci-fi movie. I thank all medical/emergency, military, and everyone doing there part to help. Thank you.

What we see on TV doesn’t show the magnitude Covid-19 has on NYC. This is much worse than 911. The Jacob Javits Center should have the “ Auto Show”. Instead it’s a military hospital. Central Park should have families, kids , softball leagues starting up. That is also setup to assist hospitals. This is very sad. I pray for this to go away. God Bless everyone.

She wasn't in direct contact, but her unit and that unit swap nurses a lot. We had them in stock because we work with chemicals. We usually keep a few boxes on hand, and then we also have full-face respirators. But if anyone has them, please consider donating them to your local hospital. Also I don't know if it would work....but couldn't you spray a "used" one down with an aerosol like Lysol, let it dissipate and completely "air out", and then still be able to use it again in case of an emergency?? I would think it would be better than nothing.

For the few times I had see a patient I put a regular face loop mask over the N95 to prevent the aerosol from my drill getting on the N95 mask.

We use them at work, for work (non-medical). We have had them on order but prioritized behind health care for some time now. Just got word that they are in transit in a neighboring state. That tells me that medical orders have been shipped (else ours wouldn’t) and it is likely that more will start to become generally available.
However no one should hoard nor use them unless they are really needed, until there is good stock on the shelves at Home Depot and Lowes. That is the best indicator, IMO, that the overall inventory and production levels are ok. |

Agreed with the general sentiments here about the N95 masks. I have one N95 mask and didn't know it was an N95. I typically buy these masks at Lowes/Home Depot because I need to have a good mask when I mow my lawn. I'm pretty allergic to grass and the fine particles the lawn mower kicks up in the air will put me down hard. I have to nurse this N95 mask I have until stock shows up at the home building supply stores. This mask was bought way before this whole situation and the elastic head bands are starting to wear out.
Otherwise I'm out and about without a mask on. |

You don’t need a N95 to go to the supermarket. I don’t use one to go to the supermarket. When I intubate a pt. I need a N95. My staff need a N95. We have difficulty getting them. I can think of a few geniused reasons as to why...

I agree with this 100%. But how about wearing one in the supermarket if you have a compromised immune system?
