We are the last saving grace for the MT over here in the U.S. Hopefully people continue to buy them. I think the MT offering is what still sets BMW apart from the competition.

I'm sorry but 50% of BMW's now wear an ///M badge????
I knew they are watering the ///M brand down but 50% is ridiculous. Worse part 90% of the population doesn't know the difference between an M3 and a m sport package. I really miss the days of one or two flavors, limited colors and knowing you had the best because it had the badge... |

I agree. I still remember reading a review back in 2001 between E39 M5, E55 ( I think) and few others. M5 was the slowest in the bunch in straight line but it was the best drivers car and won.

As a current F80 M3 owner - i want BMW M to offer NA engine model a la Porsche GT3/GT4. These models are not the fastest but they are the rawest models, ready for the track and have amazing sound.
Can you imagine a new lightweight M3 with NA inline 6 and 9k redline. People would pay $100k for it even if the standard turbo version is faster 0-60. |

I like how he's spinning all the bad as if they're good.
Give us lighter smaller nimble cars not heavy huge land yachts with a bunch of power. Give us BMW M cars that's means something not slap a M on everything And most importantly preserve the manual |

"within the space of five years, BMWs with M badges have seen sales rise by 207 percent."
That's because you slap on the M badge on everything these days. You've widened the product portfolio. You're not magically selling more cars that cost $60,000. Not many people have the money for a car like that. |

But here in the States, it has been a fairly recent thing to start putting an///M badge on non-m cars... especially on the boot or hatch lid. There used to be subtle little badges on your wheels or steering wheel if you had the package, but there was no mistaking a non ///M car vs its high-performance brother... As I said, I just miss the day when seeing an ///M badge actually meant the car was special, and it was really only offered a couple of ways in limited numbers, its what made me an enthusiast all those years ago, and is why I am on BMW #23 for me now. Funny enough my first ever BMW was 1987 M535i which was the only quasi/poser M model made utill they brought back that naming scheme... Even though it wasn't a real ///M car, I loved that car and it is what made me who I am today... can't believe I let it go. Sure does... $300 in badges means $5K to the consumer... just so he/she looks faster than they actually are. |

The funny thing is the M3 is still the more exciting car to drive. I still think the E90 M3 holds it own but in terms of absolute speed the newer cars are just insane. |

100%... an e92 might not be as fast in a straight line but that is all due to the transmission. An e92 M3 is still just about the best experience you can have with 4 wheels at any price
