What are the 14 trends? Here are a couple of my votes:

- 20" and larger wheels with low aspect ratio tires. Harshness is terrible.
- Thin glass, particularly windshields. Broken windshields the new normal.
- Fake exhaust outlets, noted in the video above.
- Lane keeping assist systems.
- ECO start/stop systems.

Large alloy wheels with dinky disc brakes...or even worse, drum brakes.

Slammed suspension that is not functional and makes the car slower.

Loud exhausts and straight pipes, 99% are just stupid and obnoxious without actually sounding good when pushed. They are just loud for the sake of loud, not for the sake of sounding good.

I don't understand the hate this gets. It's ego IMO. Car sounds better inside with it, obviously. But oh wait, it's not "real" exhaust fumes moving down a pipe, so it's terrible. We all know that real exhaust fumes moving down a pipe is really the cat's meow.

It's a mix of added sound insulation to reduce road noise and poor sounding modern engines. Throw some tech at it, maybe people wont notice.

I don't know, I kind of see it the other way. The guy with the Corvette has all of the power/sound/performance, and I don't mind a little of that in a car with inherently none.

Better to have it and have the ability to turn it off than not have it at all IMO. Same thing with all the nannies. I don't use most of them, but I want the choice to have it or not have it.

But I certainly don't agree with making it difficult or impossible to turn these things off, sound, or nannies.

Fake sound bothers me because there are people who’s job it is to insulate the cabin from engine sounds. BMW is simultaneously spending money to keep engine sounds out of the cabin, while also spending money to engineer in fake engine sounds.

I’d be fine with the car being quiet.

Another for the list- plastic wheel arches.

BMW has them on the X vehicles. MB has them on the GL vehicles, and is slipping them into the Allroad E-Class wagon.

Cheap and, well, plasticky. Most egregious on a white vehicle with base trim, which means black plastic wheel arches. Looks like a 2012 Subaru Crosstrek XV.
