Thoughts on these recommended maintenance tips from BMW NA during lockdown?

I thought the 10 minute idle was no good

I guess if your car doesn’t move much it’s a good idea to start and move it around some but yeah if your going to go through all the trouble to do what they suggest you should just take it for a short drive.

It’s all about the Covid crap right now and most companies are trying to show us they care.

This is why German cars don't come with remote start from the factory.
Mercedes remote start is only available in the U.S. via Me Connect app and BMW through BMW Connect in a package. But I believe the U.S. assembled X5 comes with remote start from the factory?

yeah idling for 10 minutes will not warm up the oil or any other fluid, seems pointless to do.

Ideling for 10 minutes or 10 hours will not hurt anything other than the environment.

I concur. Cheap gas and empty roads... what’s not to like.

I feel that they only put those instructions out to appease those confined at home and bugging dealers/BMW on what to do with their cars. A 10 minute idle and roll won't do any good.
