I have mad respect for Kia and especially Hyundai. If you ever drove an 86 excel they went from a horse and buggy to a luxury yacht in 35 years & it’s an amazing evolution.

A top of the range Kia Sorento is more expensive in the UK to buy than a top of the range BMW X3, but there are buyers who choose a Kia solely down to the 7 year warrantee.

I’ve owned 2 Kia and 1 Hyundai SUVs over the last 15 years. They came with plenty of features for the money, best warranty in USA, and held up great over the years. Will definitely buy again for a daily, winter car, or as a family hauler.
For buyers how don’t care about the badge, and simply look for reliability and value proposition, this is one of top choices out there. |

They score well on initial quality. Still not a believer in them holding up well longterm though.
The ones ive been in look nice until you dig deeper. Basically they hide their cost savings well.

Yes, actually some of the newest Hyundai/Kia products are really good, especially the Genesis products, and are mostly reliable and the 10-year warranty catches buyers' eyes. They are no longer the same insufferable to live with car company from the 80's and 90's. Not to mention they've hired the best German talent to change things for the better.

Catchy design and marketing. They've been the main sponsor of the NBA for like 10yrs! Blake Griffin etc commercials? I was helping my gfs friend shop around and the sales staff in AZ was clueless. They were trained one way to negotiate on the car and the guy couldn't even understand my theory of her affordability.

I am friends with a couple who have always been luxury car owners. Porsche, etc.
The wife of the couple just bought a Stinger. She says it is every bit as good as the 1st tier cars. |

"IRVINE, Calif., June 24, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Kia ranked number one in the industry1 today by J.D. Power in the 2020 U.S. Initial Quality Study (IQS), with a reported 136 problems per 100 vehicles. And for the sixth consecutive year, Kia is the number one mass-market automotive brand. "An exceptional run," said Dave Sargent, Vice President, Automotive Quality, J.D. Power." Kia buyers are generally those with limited budgets looking for a car with good QPR that can get them from A to B with least fuss. It's a niche Kia has done well. |

I feel like Tellurides are taking over from Range Rovers as the soccer mom car of choice around here.

Modern Kia’s are great cars. They have some nice designs, loaded with features, and the finishes are perfectly decent. Combine that with good reliability and low running costs (including a long warranty), and it’s unsurprising that they are becoming so popular. |

Kia has grown as a brand, the problem is they still have the stigma of that company that made pos cars that fall apart. A lot has changed over the last 30 years, and some people can't get over that history and stigma, just look at the posts on here about the Genesis G70, another excellent vehicle. If anything I would argue the domestics (Ford, GM, FCA) are all worse in both quality and reliability than where Hyundai/Kia is today. If anything the Ford Focus and Fiesta in my opinion is the car synonymous with bad credit and falling apart, they are real pos'. |
