M5 F90 Artic Grey Frozen Paint scratch remove & protect
Hi All
Any help will be much appreciated! Some scum bag has scratched my car and I also have a few tiny scratches that have appeared out of nowhere, does anyone know how to get them out without having to have a re-spray? I know your not meant to polish these paints but ive seen videos of the same coloured car highly polished and they look so good like a mix between frozen and metallic shine? Also if anyone has this colour what do you use to protect the pain and detail the car? |

Sorry for what happened to your car mate.
I have the same exact color as your car. The only way to fix this IMO is by respraying the part. My detailer coated my car using Gtechniq H9 ceramic coating, and 2 years after the water just slides on the paint. For maintenance I'm using Gtechniq products, they are very efficient. ahhh not what I wanted to hear! don't think id have a matt car again! Every scratch is a re-spray, BMW quoted me nearly £2k to re-spray that panel and the dealer said he wouldn't trust them to do it and to take to a specialist.
might just t cut it scratch remove! haha ... what's the worse that can happen! |

there is no way to remove that. I've painted a few Matte finishes before. It needs to be repainted. Unfortunately this is one of the nightmares of Matte. At least the repair itself isn't bad. You will just have to paint the fender and door.
sorry to see this, been here before... |

Hey Scott, sorry for what happened to your car, I really don't understand why A-Holes like that do this stuff. From the pictures, the scratches look deep. I hate to say it but you probably have to re-paint it.

This post hit me hard as well. Probably should've PPFed the whole car when it was brand new, especially on matte paint. Highly consider PPF after your repairs.

PPF can help with rock chips or accidental scratches but I'm not sure it is going to stop a vandal with a sharp key or similar tool. What a scumbag.

Frozen paint is a huge fail, IMO. If you want the frozen look, the way to go is go is to start with gloss paint and then do a full matte PPF wrap. You get the frozen look but with the durability of PPF. |

True. But not everyone wants to have their brand new car taken apart to risk damage when you can have paint from factory. Not to mention jambs will be matte as well, instead of leaving it gloss like some people do. |

My car was X-pelled when I bought it and a POS tried to use his key to vandalize my car right on the hood so I could see it. The only problem was that he had no idea that I was watching him. He keyed it and realized something was wrong and put more pressure on it. When he turned around there I was. Bammmmm KO'D. I brought the car back where I got it x-pelled and they were able to take the hood piece off and replace. No damage to the paint on the hood. |

PPF will not stop a keying if the perpetrator really wants to hit the paint. I could put a key right through PPF no problem. Might help if the key-er is just casually walking by when he/she does it, but that's about it.

I'll keep it to myself how it ended, but I will say he understood how wrong he was and will probably not do that again.

Update: the vandal was some scum back who I never met did it on his push bike scratched that and my company vehicle all the way down the drivers side!
Nothing was brought against him as there wasn't enough evidence! I've taken my BMW to a few specialists and they have advice getting the car re-sprayed so i'm booking it in and then the car is getting fully ceramic paint protection to help protect the car more. I love the look of the car but will never buy a Matt car again!!!!!!! All scratches have to be re painted which is a joke! |
