Thoughts on the G Wagon
I've never been a fan of the Box Heavy design. But having recently driven a G63, I must say, it's pretty impressive. They are more plush inside than what they would appear.

I used to really like them many many years ago until everyone on the west coast and NJ had to have one. Now, unfortunately, its very played out and lost its appeal, to me.

I see at least a dozen of these every day. I think they are ugly and their design isn’t intended to be used by the yoga pant wearing soccer mom. I think most perople buy them to be ostentatious and show off.

It costs like a house, looks like a house, drives like a house. It's completely updated but somehow manage to look like it did 40 years ago. I used to think it was cool until it became a status symbol for the uber rich.
It was supposed to be a spartan 4 cylinder diesel off road vehicle but now it's for celebrity soccer mom. There are a few companies that restore old G wagons and sell them for well under $40K. I would rather have those instead. |

we had one on trade last year and I drove it for a few weeks. I kinda of liked it, mostly how the doors shut lol, random I know. but felt like I was driving a tank. They def are pretty plush inside and sound really good (AMG model is what I drove) but not sure if I would buy one personally, kinda of ugly.

Back in Mass in the late 80s, had a buddy with a grey-market 2-door hardtop 280GE which was an early consumer version of the GW. Acceleration was measured in days but the thing was an absolute monster off road. The low range gearing with separately full locking front and rear diffs meant this thing was nearly unstoppable.
Back then, this truck was really unusual because they weren't imported, so got tons of attention. Looked just like this one: |

I definitely see more females driving them here. If I were to obtain one, it would have to be heavily modded and customized like the one I posted. But then at that price point, I would prefer something else entirely.

Years ago when they were really rare they were far better than today. Seems like the owner is far too worried about style and what others think than anything to do with the substance and how they will actually use it. At $150k for the AMG could buy so many better SUV's.

Love the 2019+ ones, hate the interior on the previous ones. Definitely not worth $200k+ though.

For the city, which is where most people who buy these drive them, the porsche cayenne is a much better buy. I like the exhaust pipes sticking out the sides and how it looks with the available olive green color.

I think it's badass and the redesign is a massive improvement over the old model. It looks arrogant which I love. Unfortunately for me personally, that is too much coin for an SUV.

Love em, every time I see them at the dealership I just find them super cool, and the new one looks even better (especially inside). I also loved how they even made sure to keep the little details, like the door shut sound.

This. Despite their reputation as stacy-mobiles, I still think they are really cool. Probably the best combination of luxury and ruggedness you can get.
