This is why I will never buy a performance Tesla
This Model X P100D has lost ~18 (!) mph quarter mile trap speed after only 27k miles of usage and Tesla refuses to do anything.

I just saw this video yesterday...
BMW: yeah it'll do 0-60 in 4.5s (in pouring rain, on any tires). Reality: way faster Tesla: does not guarantee any sort of 1/4 mile time.

If you ask Tesla fans, sure. Before Plaid models it was P100D. If you ask me, there are no "performance" models, just "fast (maybe sometimes, no promises after you buy lol)."

I mean we’re largely still in the first generation of EVs. You can have an ICE vehicle with 200,000 miles perform almost identical to new if well cared for.

I'm not sure if you are being facetious, but almost every Tesla model has a "Performance" version with dual motor AWD.
If 0-60 is your thing, 3.5s, 3.1s, 2.6s, 2.3s for the Models Y, 3, X and S, respectively (stated acceleration for the Performance variants) And Model S Plaid claims 0-60 under 2s. |

If you’ve used Lithium batteries for an extended time you know they loose capacity and current capabilities after a number of cycles. This also applies to EVs. Battery tech is not there yet.
Sorry to say but for drag racing that’s a wrong tool for the job. They’ll manage dozens or even a few hundred good passes, but ultimately the performance drop is expected due to current technical limitations. I don’t think Tesla is obliged to do anything here to be honest. Last edited by 5.M0NSTER; 10-31-2020 at 06:53 AM.. |
