BMW's Google Maps and Waze Integration

So I updated to the latest software what feels like months ago so I can have turn by turn in the dash and heads up with apple maps. Everyday when I update my apps I'm waiting for an update that includes turn by turn in the displays so I can stop using Apple maps. Who's torturing me Apple, the App makers, or Bmw? Any end in sight?

Get in line. I've been waiting for 6 years for them to put Waze directions and warnings on the HUD...

I downloaded the latest Waze app a few days ago after a few years of not using it.

It will be a few more years before I open the Waze app again. It’s unusable.

I hear that Apple maps in iOS 14.5 will have police and accident alerts and reporting. Maybe making Apple maps good will happen before Waze or Google Integrate

Does Apple Maps show up in the HUD on a 2021 X1?

If I had a choice I'd prefer to use Google maps, but it's hard to beat the crowd sourced info in Waze

Waze has been getting worse and worse for years. These days, I have to force quit the app at least 50% of the time when CarPlay connects as the Waze interface is completely unresponsive.

Apple Maps directions work great in the cluster/HUD of our late-19 build X3, but I put up with Waze’s crap purely for the speed/camera/police alerts.

I don't have any issues with the app stability (android). I have Android Auto compatibility on my Jeep but it's wired and usually not worth the hassle of plugging in unless maybe I was doing a long drive. Hopefully wireless should be easier.

I'm awaiting my first ever BMW and this is news to me - I can get Apple Maps displayed on my dashboard?
I've got a 2 series Gran Coupe in order with the virtual cockpit.

It's Google. They have to do the programming to make it happen now that Apple and BMW have done their part.

Do you know specifically what Google/Waze needs to know and if there is a place where we can upvote on development of this feature?

Google knows about this, as Google Map navigation can be displayed on HUD with Android Autos. It's just their development priorities as to when they would implement the same feature in CarPlay.

Google bought waze 8 years ago. I've been waiting for the two to merge into a single app. Although if it means me having to use the waze interface I may change my mind.

I just wish I could have night vision up with some form of maps, I leave waze on my phone screen at night because of this.
