We have some beautiful tent cities you could check out downtown Denver. Bring your own tent and experience the best that urban camping has to offer. You can cook your own meat on the community bonfire and have a nice dinner while you meet some new people.

OP what part of the state do you plan on traveling to? I go snowboarding every year (except this year, Rona..) out in Leadville which is basically out where all of the big ski areas are (Breck, Copper Mountain, etc). It beautiful out that way and my family says there is more to do in the spring/summer than there is to do in the winter. |

We traveled up the east side of CO in 2019. From Pueblo up through Denver. Off the top of my head I recall enjoying the Colorado Springs area the best. Really liked going up Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods. Probably super touristy areas, but we are tourist so I enjoyed it. I don't recall much in Denver other than Rocky Mountain NP and the town near there Estes Park. Unfortunately didn't get to spend as much time as we would of like at the NP.
We didn't do much in Pueblo... not sure there's much there but we did stay at a very nice state park I believe it was Lake Pueblo Park. Also we had a good time touring the Coors factory and the small town around it in Golden CO. Honestly though all of CO is pretty cool especially if you are use to FL. We could drive down any side road and find amazing vistas. |

Stay near or in Denver Tech Center. You might visit Blackhawk if you like gambling, day trip to Breckenridge or Vail would be cool. Take a ride up through Boulder to the Stanley Hotel and Rocky Mountain National park. Visit the Buckhorn Exchange, prob oldest restaurant in Denver. Catch a ball game at Coors field, great venue and the aquarium downtown is really nice. Couple of ideas. |

If it were later into the summer season, a drive up Mt. Evans is cool, both figuratively as well as literally. Estes Park, Breckenridge, or Vail are all great places to visit. Garden of The God's is pretty cool. The Royal Gorge further south or Georgetown Loop are some great train rides. If you want to see Denver, stick to the museums, Mint, stuff like that.

We haven’t had a bad meal in Colorado. You have to have the ability to discern a good restaurant. Use Yelp and read some menus on the street when you walk up. Look inside and see how busy it is, and look at the food. If it all looks good to you, it is good.
We like hiking 14ers, general sightseeing and this year we will rent a Jeep. Beautiful state. We prefer staying in a condo with a kitchen, and we make 90% of our meals on vacation. It’s flexible and better. I like to cook, so if you don’t like to cook you need to eat at restaurants. Condos are plentiful and relatively well priced in the summer, because the max lodging capacity is based on ski season. This means there is more lodging supply than there is demand in the summer season, and deals are not too hard to find. Regarding location, any of the well known ski towns have activities 12 months a year. Along I-70 is easiest to/from Denver but if you venture farther north or south there are some great sights to be seen. If your schedule permits, visit when the Denver and Colorado Springs public schools are in session. Fewer crowds, more lodging availability and lower prices. Where in CO? I’d recommend Breckinridge, Boulder and Vail. Plenty to do in the foothills area. Denver is blah right now. I’m in PA but go to CO quarterly as my daughter goes to CU. Estes Park is nice too. Big foodie state, do your research and don’t forget to visit the many great breweries. Denver really is dumpy lately, I was there a few weeks back. Better and far cheaper to stay nearby in Broomfield.

I wouldn’t compare Denver with Manhattan. Not comparable at all. The comparison ends at cars, streets and buildings.
Strong recommend for Carelli’s in Boulder. Best Italian in the area imo. |

Denver downtown isn't that big compared with other major cities in the U.S., but a lot of homeless since Colorado legalized marijuana use several years ago. Evidently, it's better to be homeless where mamajuana is legal than in other states where it isn't. I can see the Denver skyline from my property and almost never go there unless we want to go the the Performing Arts Center for a show. Other than a lot of great restaurants, Denver has no real appeal for me. I prefer mountains to cities. You'd be surprised how many people think Denver is in the mountains.

Beaver creek is also nice.
I’ve stayed at the Broadmoor a couple of times and it just isn’t my kind of place (like the Amelia Island Ritz). Too stuffy (preppy is the word that really comes to mind, if still in use). I prefer something simpler, or more rustic even. But for a one-shot deal, ok. There is a lot to see and do in Colorado, it is a beautiful state with a lot to offer (wide range of geology, topography too). |
