Live Cockpit Pro integration with Apple CarPlay
I'm waiting for my new X4 M40i to arrive, and wondering about how Live Cockpit Pro and Apple CarPlay get along? In my X1, it's an either/or situation - either rely on CarPlay and it's apps and Siri, or switch to iDrive. 99% of the time I am in CarPlay because I like to use Waze, and it's easy to access my YouTube music account. When in CarPlay, it means that my heads up display only shows speed, and if I advance a track in my music.
I've heard the integration with Cockpit Pro and iDrive 7 is better, but, for instance, the center of the primary information screen (speedometer/tach etc), which defaults ot a map, will be blank in CarPlay - and there's really nothing else you can put there. Anyway with experience? I would like to take better advantage of Live Cockpit than I get out of iDrive in my X1. Thanks |

I prefer Waze so my options are limited.

I did figure out how to split the screen when using Waze instead of it appearing full screen in the middle control display. |

The center gauge area still shows the map if connected to carplay.
Apple Map guidance is sent to the HUD. Apple Music information is sent to the HUD, including album art. The BMW steering wheel navigates Apple Music. Flipping between the Carplay view & iDrive screens is seamless, no lag. No idea how well Youtube Music integrates. |
