Post Carbon Bucket Seats - Signs of use

Hello all

I apologise for my poor English!

I have the black full leather carbon bucket seats and will use them every day.

Does anyone have any experience with the wear and tear (signs of use) on the high sides?

Should I have the material specially treated so that the seats look nice for a long time?

Thank you very much for your answers!

Greetings

Keep in mind that these should be covered under bumper to bumper warranty, if you wear them down before it runs out. Ive had many seats with the covers replaced under bumper to bumper, for wearing out before the warranty expired. I tend to be rough on seats.

I doubt they would cover seat wear

Had it done on many brands, at least 4. Steering wheel, and seats, both. There are half a dozen threads on the Honda forums, of Honda replacing Brembo Calipers on Type Rs, for the clear coat peeling. When people know good and well theyre using harsh wheel cleaners on them.

Your experience doesn’t depict an accurate depiction of how BMW dealers cover wear and tear items under warranty. Wear and tear isn’t covered and I’ve been denied for steering wheel and arm rest when it was at no fault of my own. F3x generation had many quality issues with their interiors and many people have been denied claims. One person might win one of those claims, but most will not. Try for sure, but don’t set wrong expectations.

100%, Im definitely not saying, its going to happen, without a shadow of a doubt. There are dealers that handle situations differently. for example, not all dealers are agreeing to warranty the calipers peeling, some are. Hopefully, there is enough information, posted, online for someone to be able to locate a dealer, in their area, thats willing to help with their situation.

I dont work for BMW but I do work for another brand. Normal wear and tear is not covered. Only if it was a defect in the leather. Sometimes the manufacture will do a good will repair and cover it and sometimes they wont. All depends on the situation.

I applied Colourlock Shield on the leather and Dr. Bradley's Microsuede protector on the alcantara. Neither will be perfect protection but they should slow the degradation. I think you just need to accept the trade off here and enjoy the seats if you get them knowing they won't look showroom forever.

Is anyone seeing signs of wear on the carbon buckets?

I'm concerned that the alcantara on the inside of the left seat bolster will wear out because of the friction from my left thigh moving to engage / disengage the clutch.
