For those that have PPF - paint correction first?

I知 planning on taking my cat for full PPF, just spoke to the shop and was informed they will NOT be doing a paint correction first, I知 paying 6k and they are just gonna clean the car and slap this on?! Does that seem right, what did they do before your PPF installation, should I even wrap it or pay for damage as it occurs.

That seems wrong. I just did 3 year ceramic coat and tint that ran me $1200 and paint correction was the first thing they did.

Any reputable shop will paint correct prior to putting on PPF, and it should be included in the price. I would find someone else.

Zim that does seem a lot. If they don稚 do a paint correction, the area will stand out more. I got a full PPF wrap on my G80 done at an excellent PPF shop near the Nurburgring in Germany. The installers explained how they had to do a paint correction first. They completed the PPF and even a ceramic coat, and it did not cost close to 6k. If you have additional questions, message me. Good luck.

I've had over 6 cars that got PPF and every single one of them had to do paint correction. My full PPF on my G82 cost me 5800, which included Paint correction, as well as Ceramic coating on top of the PPF. I say look at another place to do your car.
Is it worth it, that's a personal thing. I do it because I'm OCD with cars and can't stand nicks and rock chips.

You should do paint correction first. Once that film goes on, any imperfection is there to stay.

Is the shop reputable? It sounds like they're cutting a corner. Both guys who quoted me said they will 'probably need to do a paint correction even on a brand new car' and when I arrived they showed me all the swirl marks under lights (car had never been washed by me, only by the dealer!) you don't want to be locking in swirl marks underneath the PPF!

You should Probably shop around. My PPF ended up with some imperfections and I had them redo some panels so you need to find a really good shop, otherwise they can make a real mess of it

Paint correction first, no questions. It foolish to lock in swirl marks under the film. When the car is new, it shouldn't need more than a quick one step, anyway, unless the dealer already trashed the clear on the first wash.
