BMW Seal and Protect

I am trying to find out what is the nature of the treatment for the BMW Seal and Protect applied to my new BMW.

The BMW website states 'With BMW Seal & Protect, which uses scientifically-developed treatments, a BMW Hard Wax is applied to the exterior paintwork that has been specially formulated to increase surface resilience and water repellence. As a result, the paintwork is not only protected, but actively enhanced by the wax for a long-lasting shine."

Is this ceramic? wax? keen to understand how best to maintain this?

it's described as a wax and apparently carries a 5-year protection warranty. it doesn't appear you have to do anything special; just wash and dry your car with discerning regularity.

I have no idea, but when they tried to sell it to me a few weeks ago here in the US I asked for all the docs and it turned out to be a ceramic coating applied by a large contract shop I'm familiar with ... the one they tried to sell me used to be called ibex or iris or something like that ... and now they've re-branded it, but contractor told me it's a generically sourced ceramic coating.

No idea if that helps ....

All of that said, no matter what it is, it shouldn't differ from any type of polymer coating: wash with normal good techniques and apply a topper if you want.
