Koreans and Japanese
Hey guys,
I have a question. I was talking to a Korean friend and he said that there is a lot of "bad blood" between the Koreans and the Japanese. I understand that the Japanese had enslaved the Koreans during one period but is that where it stems from? Is this still prevalent? I remember reading some of the comments when the Gate was burned and wow, there was some hate there. I guess my question is, is this a generational thing? Do the people who were actually enslaved hate the most or does it not matter? If you are Japanese, in Japan are Koreans look at as being on "the same level?" Do you receive a lot of "reverse racism?" **Note: I DO NOT mean to offend or start a fight, I am not trolling just looking for more info. I know we have a lot of Asians on this site so i figured it's be the best place to ask. Thanks.**

Among other atrocities, the Japanese kept thousands of Korean "comfort women" during WWII. Many of these women and their descendants are still pretty ticked off. With good reason.

LOLS
Most of the 'hate' is from the older generation who went through the BS. The younger generation isn't as bad as the older, but Koreans in general have a lot of pride and nationalism. Plus, we're probably one of the most racist people in Asia. We just hate and look down upon everyone. Funny, since a lot of our culture is a bite off of Japan and America anyways.

I'm Korean and I also heard that it's more for the older generations that still hold a grudge against the Japanese due to various reasons with one main one being how they used Korean women as sex slaves during the war. I'm in my late 20s and I'm guessing that it affects my grandparents generation more than my parents' generation. I may be wrong though.

Uhhhh I'm 1/2 Japanese and have a couple of Korean friends, so I don't think it's really prevalent.

I'm Korean
Anywho, I think this dislike between Japanese and Koreans will be a distant thing soon. It's mainly the older generations where the history is still fresh in their minds. I think many of the younger people born in the States prob don't even know the history. Other than that, Koreans and Japanese just like to hate people anyways JK! |
