It depend on the school and where the grade is posted. If it's already on your transcript, it's a HUGE pain in the @$$ which results in the professor looking like an idiot hence their unwillingness to cooperate. If it's just posted on the wall/door of their office then there's a good chance that your grade will be changed, as long as it's warranted.

Back in high school, on one of the last days in my senior English class, a bunch of students were standing around the teacher's desk shooting the shit and looking at out grades and whatnot. He came to my name in his gradebook, and wherever there was a low grade, or an assignment that I didn't turn in, he'd look at me and say, "you turned that in, didn't you?", or "you made that assignment up, didnt't you" and he would replace that grade with a "100."
This really has no relevance to the OP's questions, but I thought it was pretty sweet. |

One time, when I thought the professor gave me the wrong grade - I went up to him and was like are you serious, is this correct??? And he was like, its not me, its you, you really got a 60.

From my experience, get this resolved immediately! There is usually a statute of limitations on revising grades, I want to say roughly 1 year.
When I was a frosh or sophomore in college, I had a class where I never received a grade, even though I attended the class all quarter and passed it easily. Well, being a young naive teen, I thought the situation would just resolve itself and before I knew it, when I approached the professors, they said there was nothing they could do. I said I had all the graded papers and they said they had no record of anything. I was pissed So, I had to basically take the class over. Fortunately, I took the class with another professor who I was friendly with and he allowed me to show up one time (the first class), and then just used the same papers I wrote before. Again, moral of the story, get it fixed ASAP! And have some sort of graded evidence such as exams or papers. Also, this is also a good reason to ALWAYS keep your college exams, notes, etc. Store them away in a box somewhere, at least until you graduate. Not only do they occasionally help for researching after you've graduated....they can help in situations such as this. |

I had my grade changed last semester... I contacted my professor and talked to him about it. I didn't have to fill out any paperwork or anything, he just went ahead and changed it. (this was about 2 weeks after I received the grade on the online transcript)

I had one of my grades changed from a C to B...
He claimed he didnt make a mistake. Basically, pariticpation was worth like 20%. He gave me a 5%. I went to class everday, and talked occasionally. He gave alot of my friends 15/20 or 20/20 participation even though they didnt show up half the time... None the less, before talking to the Dean, I talked to him nicely stating my papers, my attendance, my classmates grades.. At first he didnt want to change it, but as soon as I said i was going to talk to the dean for discrimination issues, he changed his mind quickly. It still took a semester to change the grade. He filed alot of paper work to change it. |
