Gentlemen, please help...

I usually wear slacks and button down shirts to work. Problem is, an hour or so into the day, my shirt is always all bloused out and looks wrinkled and slovenly. I tuck it back it, it, it blouses out again.

Not only does it look bad, but it makes me look about 50 pounds overweight…

By the end of the day, the shirt is a disaster. I look around the office and other guys don't have this problem. Not even tucking into the underwear helps.

I need to get a grip on this. I am wearing high quality stuff also, I'm not shopping at today's man or target.

I do...but the new tuck never seems to remain for more than a few minutes. And it's not like i'm "Slim" so I don't know why Slim would be the answer.

Where could I get tailor fitted shirts? What would they cost?

Usually that means that the shirt is to big/long for your body. I would try the next shirt size down. It worked for me. I am tall with a slender frame and had the same issue. The shirts I buy now.....the tails only fall about 6 inches from my waistline.

a lot of the regular big name dress shirt manufactures now have shirts that are usually called slim fit, tailored fit, modern fit, modern cut, etc... these shirts are usually not as baggy and are cut shorter. i'm not sure what type of body build you are though. this may help.

seems like the biggest problem you're having after rereading your post is just keeping the damn shirt tucked in. belt tight? pants loose?

The reason you are having this problem can be attributed to two factors: fit and fabric.

For the fit I suggest you pick a brand that is known for more so a tailored fit. I would suggest you try Facconable, Zegna, Canali, or Hugo Boss. These are known to have more tailored fits that your typical dress shirt. You will need to try each on to see which fits your body type well. Wear dress paints and tuck it and and walk around a bit to see what it does and how it fits your body.

For fabric, it is usually lower thread-count or summer weight shirts that have this issue. If the fit issue doesn't help try a broadcloth or a high density pinpoint.

If you are still having issues Nordstrom does custom order shirts through Hickey Freeman and Robert Talbott. You will need to call the Men's Furnishings department and schedule an appointment for a fitting with their specialist. Please, don't just go in because there is special training necessary to do custom orders and there is usually only one or two people trained in it in the department. They will have a couple hundred color swatches sorted by type of fabric and color and/or pattern and the prices vary from about $150 to $500, with majority at $200. (This is based on my experience a year ago, so prices may have changed.)

i have always had good luck with Express shirts. sometimes they can be a bit more pricy then others, but if you catch them on sale they are cheep. i like the cuts and they have awesome fabric.

Good info..thanks! Realize most people will not fork out 2-5 bills on a dress shirt alone.

I would try bringing your current shirts to a tailor and see if they can alter them. For $15-30 they can probably bring in the sides, etc assuming the rest of the shirt fits correctly.

When I was in college I used to have this problem and it was that the shirts I was purchasing did not fit me correctly. Now every shirt I own fits me to a T and is tailored and I haven't had the problem since.
