Help with Speeding Ticket!
I received a speeding ticket for doing 72 in a 55mph zone. I do not disagree with that. I disagree with the fact that the motorcycle police officer was perched about 30 feet above me in the oncoming ramp. He had sight of me at least 500 yds and I only saw him because he got on top of his bike but at that point it was already too late. Should I go to court and plead that case or just pay the fine. Any Attorneys out there? Thanks for any advice!

go to court. but the day before youre supposed to show up then call it in and say you have to reschedual. do this a few times then show up to the following appreance date. chances are he's not going to show and the ticket will get thrown out. when i was in traffic court for a BS ticket (it really was though) 8 out 10 cases got thrown out because the cop didnt show. but guess who showed up? my douchbag officer(hell even his fellow officers in court didnt talk to him, all the officers in uniform were socializing except for the douche in the full suit.). but the judge belived me more than the cop but he said since its his word against mine all he could do was reduce the fine. but either way fight it. if you dont then you just lose. this way youll have some chance. g' luck.

There was this thread in this Offtopic forum posted by CDHeaven that discussed getting an attorney for tickets. I highly recommend you find and read that thread.

Dont waste the court's time, the officer's time, and other resources just because you are too flippin stubborn to accept the responsibility for your actions...
Just plead guilty and pay the ticket. Now you have wasted my time as well as the time of others on this board... |

Speeding Ticket
If you pay the fine and plead guilty, points may be assigned to your driving record. This in turn makes you a greater risk to insurance companies that result in higher insurance premiums.
We help people with tickets all the time. In Honolulu, our firm is: Bervar & Jones, Attorneys At Law 1001 Bishop Street Honolulu, HI 96813 View Map (808) 550-4990 PM me and I will send you details on getting a 25% discount off their services. |

That's why you need an attorney
The point is that your rights are protected - the majority of cases in which there is an attorney present results in a reduction in the severity of the incident. If this is reduced to "use of improper equipment", there are no points assigned.

I knew someone would pipe up... What happened to accepting the responsibility for your actions in this country? He was speeding, and got a ticket. Just man up and pay the ticket. Go to a weekend driver improvement course and have the points removed... Simple process... |

You will not be able to lodge an affirmative defense/challenge to the officer's use of laser radar. Judges view this technology as virtually flawless. Unless you have an amazing justification you wont prevail. Watch that spedometer. It is a "non-issue" as to where the officer was located.....
The retaining of an attorney is no guarantee of a reduction of offense or fine.

get a laywer, your gonna have to pay him to try to get your ticket droped, so its even more of a risk and thats the price you pay. i dont understand what is wrong with a lawyer if he got a ticket, thats what lawyers are there for.
and i didnt know you could get guned when going the opposite direction of a cop?!?!
